License tagging for Image:NewThom.jpg edit
Thanks for uploading Image:NewThom.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hi Tracy, I have worked for NCSA on and off, and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. The reason the NCSA logo image was deleted was because it didn't have the necessary copyright information.
The required copyright tag for logo images is {{logo}} which you should add in the image description page.
As for photos of NCSA, and relevant copyright issues, is NCSA willing to release some images under GFDL or Creative Commons attribution licenses? Please clarify that. I can always drop by at NCSA building (which is right across my lab at siebel), and take photos of anything or anybody. I noticed that Thom's photo is also under possible deletion ... I'd be happy to drop by and take a photo myself (or you can take one and upload to Wikimedia commons, under GFDL). The Mosaic plaque image you see in NCSA's page was taken by me and uploaded to commons.
Anyway, if you need any help, please drop me a note.

NCSA logo edit
The image uploaded as licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "wikipedia only" which meant it got deleted on sight since these lisences are not considered free enough for wikipedia.Geni 23:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ncsa logo sm.gif edit
Thanks for uploading Image:Ncsa logo sm.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
