Speedy deletion nomination of Aissa Mama Kane

edit

Hello Toosharp81,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Aissa Mama Kane for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

  • Hi - I saw the notification for this. It was saved by another editor (thanks Tagishsimon!), however the article still needs sourcing and to be expanded. It's incredibly important that when you put out work, that it's as complete as possible and has coverage in reliable sources, otherwise it runs the risk of being deleted. Thankfully this was caught by Tagishsimon and saved, but this doesn't always happen so make sure that you thank them! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:13, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Shalor - I'm very glad to see UofM putting effort into improving coverage of African women on Wikipedia - it's really important and you are all to be congratulated for doing so. It's also a very fine learning experience. Thank you too, Shalor, for being on top of your game in respect of supervision; that's very good to see.
Toosharp81, it's fine to take text from a French wiki article and google translate it, but you must a) acknowledge the source in your edit summary (e.g. "translation of https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aissa_Mama_Kane - see that article for edit history") and b) you must always have at least one reference in a biography of a living person - that is mandated in WP:BLP. Because sources are difficult to find for African women, getting references is a difficult job, but that is now the challenge for you. Please do your best; we're depending on you. You can start by examining the references on the French article, after which google is your friend. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:07, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
