Rugby
editI see that you have been fixing up links to rugby. Often, when the author says "rugby" they mean "rugby union", but I see that you have sometimes linked to "rugby football". Do you think it's worthwhile for me to go and fix up these links so that they go directly to rugby football --Commander Keane 07:51, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
- What I've been doing (with a fair degree of inconsistency!) is to use specific links to Rugby League or Rugby Union where it's a) relevant and b) fairly easy to tell either from context or from my own knowledge; if it refers to Campo or Wilkinson, for example, I know that'll be Union. If it refers to the Bradford Bulls it'll be League. Where it's not obvious, I can't determine which it is, or the reference is to the game in general, I've generally been using Rugby Football. Feel free to dab them as you like! Tonywalton 10:17, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
- After a closer look, it seems a lot of the time it is impossible to tell if an author is indicating rugby or league and you have done a great job at sorting it out. It just seemed strange to me to send people to Rugby football, as this meaning of the word "rugby" is one that I never use. I can't think of a better solution. --Commander Keane 12:19, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
- "I'll just keep plugging on". It looks like all of the links to Rugby are taken care of. Am I missing soemthing? Also, I didn't understand "gainful employment allowing", forgive my ignorance. --Commander Keane 12:51, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
- Had another go, seeing as I live near the town of Rugby, Warks. Perhaps after pointing the ambiguous ones to Rugby Football there should be another pass to clear those as well? Dunstan 11:01, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Speedy tags
editHi. Please only place speedy delete tags on pages which meet the criteria. Keller Williams Realty does not. Thanks. Kappa 15:30, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hi. On what grounds doesn't Keller Williams Realty not meet the speedy deletion criteria? This is pure advertising Tonywalton 15:34, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- The question is, on what grounds does it meet the criteria? "Advertising" is not one of them, and this is actually a reasonable start to a factual article. Take it to WP:VFD, the company probably won't be considered notable enough, but that doesn't make it a speedy candidate. Kappa 15:43, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I'll vfd it. "Advertising" per se isn't enough, but I note criteria of notability, which this certainly doesn't seem to be.
Userpage
editHey, Tony. So far, you look to be an excellent Wikipedian. You didn't have a userpage yet, so I created one for you. It's very simple; feel free to change it to whatever you want. DS 01:49, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- You're welcome, but there's another thing you're forgetting to do - namely, to sign/date your posts with a row of four tildes (~~~~). DS 11:21, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- Not all of them... It's a habit I'm working on getting into :) Tonywalton 11:23, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
LASIK
editYup. It's a regular procedure which, ironically, is similar to the one in the article. I had mine done at TLC Laser Eye Center about three years ago. They're national if you want to get in touch with them. Same company fixed Tiger Woods' peepers. Might have even been my doctor! - Lucky 6.9 01:12, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
LOL! Tony, you won't feel a thing. Promise. Takes about 30 seconds per eye and it's done. They even give you a Valium to relax. I was so excited about ditching contacts that I wasn't the least bit nervous. Didn't need the Valium, but damn, it felt good. :) These guys are the best. - Lucky 6.9 01:17, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
AARGH...! Sorry, 'bout that! I shouldn't have assumed you were American (blush)! Still, the procedure should be available there and it's gotten even better since I did it. - Lucky 6.9 01:19, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
You mean that's a true story...? Oof. Stick with glasses. - Lucky 6.9 01:20, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
I'm fully aware of where it comes from and it's significance to Blackadder and to popular culture, however even so it's a dictionary definition that more rightly belongs in wiktionary: for an encyclopedia it should really be redirected to Blackadder, which is what I have done. -- Francs2000 | Talk 21:56, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- Actually "wibble" is an English meta-word that I'm sure has been around a long time, especially in comedy writing. I'm off to check the OED dead tree (USQ isn't enough of a University to have an online full ODE sub (mutter)). BTW thanks for calling me a great mind.

editPerfectly done! I agree with the redirect ;) --Raistlin 19:07, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- I didn't do it. Probably the server did it itself (joking, look at the hist)... isn't Wikipedia a bit like deep thought ? :) --Raistlin 21:58, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
editDo not accuse people of vandalism when no vandalism has occurred. Such behaviour is not acceptable at wikipedia. Do not repeat, SqueakBox 16:11, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
I repeat, stop making false and what now seem to be entirely malicious claims of vandalism. no vandalism has occurred. you are acting like the classic POV warrior accusing others of vandalsim who disagree with their POV. Desist, pereferably apologise, and don't make false claims of vandalism again or you will get into trouble as such behaviour is not tolerated here at wikipedia, SqueakBox 18:07, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
I am only in the habit of warning people who do things like make false vandalisnm accusations, as you have. It is hard on the cutting edge of wiklipedia. By all means flag our conversation somewhere, but I think you will find little sympathy for your false vandalism accusations. Please don't knowingly make such false claims again. An apology is in order, SqueakBox 18:07, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
Bill Oddie
editThank you for your intervtion on Ashia Hansen. Please see Bill Oddie, where the latest is to insist that he is a native of two different places! Andy Mabbett 08:09, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Jermaine Jenas
editHi Tony. It was me that re-added the category "Newcastle United players" to Jermaine Jenas's article, rather than an error by you. Although it's a little unclear from the name, past players are included in these cats as well. Hope you don't mind me adding it again. Rje 12:34, August 31, 2005 (UTC)
In future, please read articles (or the articles they redirect to) thoroughly before nominating them for deletion. Thank you. McPhail 19:55, 31 August 2005 (UTC)
