Speedy deletion nomination of Ralph Marcus Hare

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ralph Marcus Hare for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

Hi. I've done a little bit of tidying up on this article, but it would be helpful if I knew a bit more about the sources of information. It seems clear you wrote this from documentation in the family, which is fine to start with, but it would help if we had some third-party references to show Hare's contributions to the aviation industry. For example, Sir Geoffrey de Havilland has a prominent entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and that really helps other editors check facts and determine what important parts should be mentioned. I was reading the article over lunch and while it sounds like an interesting topic, I have similar concerns. I just get this feeling of a very interesting topic that may not be right for a Wikipedia article and might be better for your own website. I'm afraid that Wikipedia has guidelines restricting whether people can have a Wikipedia article on them, so you might want to take a look at WP:PERSON which is a guide this. Essentially, a person can really only be the subject of a Wikipedia article if their work (as in their personal contribution) has been discussed in reliable sources - ones not written by Hare himself. He sounds like an interesting person, but if the only external source on him is one article from 1942 I can't help but wonder if this content is really right for Wikipedia - it might be better posted on your own personal website where you can add any materials you like in unlimited amounts such as photos and letters, which is not so practical on a Wikipedia article. As it is I have to say I'm not sure the article would survive a deletion discussion. So just to emphasise the important bit: the really important thing is adding more citations to published sources like books, journal and newspaper articles. Blythwood (talk) 20:54, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
