Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:VernonACSTC.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:43, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:39cbg.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:39cbg.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. List of Cadet Units in British Columbia edit

I like the format of the list that you used for this article. Do you think maybe it's better to work on just improving the main list, List of Air Cadet Squadrons in Canada instead of setting precedent for having one of these lists per squadron? One idea that I had is that we could make a table that's sortable by province and/or element. Sancho 07:14, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Moved misplaced message from above edit

Theosaul: It is clear that you do not have permission to create this page or publish on behalf of the Canadian Forces. Did you consult with a higher authority in advance. It is important that you do. 24.108.176.42 (talk) 03:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC) Comment moved by Sancho 05:52, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Theosaul, you don't need permission from the Canadian Forces to create an article on Wikipedia. It is understood that no author on Wikipedia is publishing on behalf of the Canadian Forces, including you, so you don't have to worry about a need to consult a higher authority. Besides, how would we even know if you are in the Canadian Forces to begin with :-) Sancho 05:52, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

2947 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2947 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of 2947 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. Notability edit

Hi Theosaul, I just wanted to say a bit more as regards my reasons for nominating for deletion a couple of articles you have been working on. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and has an inclusion guideline to help determine what subjects are notable enough for an article to be written about them in this encyclopedia. This guideline can be found at Wikipedia:Notability. For organizations, a more specialized guideline has been written at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). I'll quote the relevant section of this guideline here:

A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject. The depth of coverage of the subject by the source must be considered. If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. Once notability is established, primary sources may be used to add content. Ultimately, and most importantly, all content must be attributable.

As well,

Individual chapters of national and international organizations are usually not notable enough to warrant a separate article unless sufficient notability is established through reliable sources. However, chapter information may be included in list articles as long as only verifiable information is included.

It is for these reasons that I have nominated for deletion several articles related to individual squadrons/corps/training centres. Sancho 08:09, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Vernon_ACSTC.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Vernon_ACSTC.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Coredesat 07:48, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:39cbg.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:39cbg.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:33, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Meeting of the Waters edit

Hi there. Regarding your edit to the article above, this is to inform you that I reverted your edit, as you did not follow wiki policies. The right way is (1) to create a "Disambiguation" page explaining the several meaning, (2) to create a new article with the exact name you use there (with march in parenthesis), and finally, (3) to add a link in the top article redirecting to the disambiguation page. Also notice that there is already a discussion I opened in the Talk Page to change the name, at least to drop "The", you are welcome to give you point of view. --Mariordo (talk) 03:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of cadet units in British Columbia edit

The article List of cadet units in British Columbia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable per WP:NOTABLE and WP:MILMOS/N

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Anotherclown (talk) 07:37, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.
