Hiya
editHiya there! Bishonen | talk 13:43, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Welcome back to WP. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 04:44, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
I seriously believe IheartWWF (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a very abusive sockpuppet of Emico (talk · contribs). His edits began as an anonymous user(213.55.89.8 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), 168.243.84.113 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), and 168.243.84.113 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)) who has aggressively edited the INC article. Based on his posts, he has knowlege of how WP works. Lately he's taken his animosity and cockyness to my talk page with insults about what I edit, and saying I shouldn't edit the INC article. He also bashed me and some Wikipedia:Esperanza members. Please help me alliviate this problem? --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 03:47, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree this user is troublesome Theo. I reported him to the Administration Noticeboard. — Moe ε 03:45, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Welcome back
editHey Theo, glad to have you back in the "pond". I'm just back from Firenze, had a great time. Statues of Dante, paintings of the "Inferno", lots of olive oil and red wine, what fun. Paul August ☎ 23:54, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Wikimedia UK
editYou have expressed an interest in Wikimedia UK. Just to let you know I've posted a draft Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of the proposed "Wikimedia UK" charitable company on Wikimedia UK/Memorandum of Association and Wikimedia UK/Articles of Association. It is proposed that these will receive initial approval by interested parties at a meeting on 27 November. I will put together a brief agenda for the more formal aspects of that meeting soon. Memo and Arts of Association are a company's constitution, and need to be agreed before the company is formed (though they can be changed at a later date). Please feel free to comment on the relevant talk pages (I'd rather the proposed drafts are left unedited so that it is easy to see what is going on) - particularly if there is something there that you would disagree with at the meeting, details of which can be found on the Wikimedia UK page on Wikimedia Meta-Wiki. Kind regards, jguk 19:11, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Help please=
editI have asked the owner of this image [1] if it could be used for the article Yellow-rumped thornbill and he replied:
HI, Sure..you can use the image, but please dont crop it, and leave the watermark as is.
So can I upload the image now? what sort of process has to be done? All the image copyrighting stuff is too complicated for me to understand and I am at a loss as to what to do, could you help or refer me to someone? thank you. --mexaguil 09:42, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Could you consider adding this template to your userpage? It is very helpful in case translators are needed and such.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 15:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Feliz Navidad
edit
Theo, O.K., so you don't believe in Santa, but I still want to wish you and your loved ones all the happiness in the world and the best new year ever. Your friend, Tony the Marine 06:33, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Corrigan
editI've had a look, and yes it is improving, but to my mind it is still not FA standard, there is just not enough there in information and images to be a proper biography, but it if you re-run it at FAC, I will not comment at all as it obviously means a lot to you. If you want to be appreciated get some kind soul to translate it into French a run it for FA there, they are a lot nicer and appreciative than here, take at look at Sicilian Baroque here [2]. Have a nice Christmas. Giano | talk 17:18, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Congratulations for making the first edit of 2006, as recorded on official server time. David | Talk 00:02, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Lowry
editHi Theo. The trips themselves are well documented and the Seaburn Hotel (now the Sunderland Marriott) has one of the serviette drawings on display. I also know personally one of the ladies who received a drawing from Lowry during a visit to an ice cream parlour in the late 1950's.

English/British singers
editI was just moving from less populated to more populated in preparations for a split to British (or English, whichever way it falls) male/female singers - following suit of the American and Australian categories. Before actually editing, I looked up the terminology article; it seems a complicated situation.
I do think, however, that it's a confusing way of categorizing them. As somebody said a few steps back, don't recall the exact page - users might not be aware that there are two different categories, and would not get a truly accurate picture.
But I stopped after a few, in hopes that I'd get more specific feedback - and, evidently, received it. Thanks for the input. Crystallina 00:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Subcategorizing it, actually, seems like the best way to do it. Is it "safe" to fully subcategorize them now (i.e. move out of British singers into English where applicable)? Crystallina 01:07, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- I see. The whole reason, really, was so I'd have a way to create the British male singers and British female singers categories - they make up the next-largest part, from what I've seen, of the (still overpopulated) Female and Male singers categories. Crystallina 02:32, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Blanking from your school
editThere was some blanking-vandalism from your school ([3]). I've already reverted it..but as the talkpage of the IP states, I hereby notify you instead. I hope you can do something with this information. SoothingR 15:17, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

editI noticed some discussion about the site www.ukgraffiti.com
Perhaps I can help clarify some matters which are not clear, particularly about the future development of the site.

Childe Roland
editGreetings! I just found two separate articles at Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came and Childe Rowland to the Dark Tower Came, whose histories were neatly separated in time, so I've merged the two. The version standing is mostly your work; I've merged in some information from the other version that didn't exist in yours (there wasn't much). I don't know much about the poem, though, so it's a bit ham-handed; thought you might want to know about it to take a look! Cheers, Mindspillage (spill yours?) 22:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
This is just a reminder that the Birmingham meetup of UK Wikipedians that you have expressed an interst in is happening tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice. Thryduulf 15:14, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
List of British locations
editI know it directly came from wikisource : but where did wikisource get it? It's a big list that obviously needed a lot of work - it seems unlikely one of us just typed it in, so I'm a bit worried about the provenance of the list and its copyright status. Morwen - Talk 18:02, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- See Talk:List of United Kingdom locations#Source. —Theo (Talk) 18:38, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Assuming that you have correctly identified the copyright holder as Mike Simpson, did he agree to licence it under GFDL? Note that wikisource accepts non-GFDL content. Morwen - Talk 23:26, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- I await a response from him.—Theo (Talk) 11:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Rollback
editHi Theo. Please use the rollback button only to correct simple vandalism, i.e. cases where reversion is indisputable - the removal of "Mike Golding", a guy without an article, from Southampton doesn't qualify. Your edit was right, because as FICO World Champion Mike Golding is clearly notable, but it would have been better to have manually reverted and left that as a reason. I'll stick a stub at Mike Golding if no-one else does by the time I get home, which will make everyone happy.

- Good to see you around. The place is not the same without you and Fil. -- ALoan (Talk) 17:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes I agree whole heartedly. Theo: I'm afraid work on Fil's List_of_cultural_references_in_The_Divine_Comedy seems to have stalled out. Perhaps you can provide just the kick in the pants needed to make progess there ;-) Paul August ☎ 18:46, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
David Gibbins
editHi Theo,
I see that you flagged David Gibbins as a possible copyvio. You referenced a page here. In fact, the text of the article was not taken from this portugalresident page.. indeed, I have never seen that before. That page - as well as the WP article - took its text from David Gibbins' own mini-bio as given officially in his novel. Now, I am not entirely clear if this would constitute a copyvio... I did not think it did, when I created the article. Since this is his official mini-bio, which his publishers WANT to be spread around, I figured that the original writer would only be pleased that it had been presented as his bio here on WP also. If you check amazon.com, this text also appears there.
On the other hand, maybe this is still considered a copyvio? I guess it all comes down to the spirit in which it is meant, and in which it would be taken by the original author, to see the text here. I am not too sure myself: maybe you have more experience with these matters than I do. In any case, I am just letting you know a bit more about this text than you might previously have known, and I leave it up to you if you'd want to revert the copyvio notice on the page. Thanks.
