Conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Thecottesloeschooldigital. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Cottesloe School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   22:35, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

You still have not adequately responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying, you may be blocked from editing.  Velella  Velella Talk   22:37, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. — Newslinger talk 23:15, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

As an employee you have a Conflict of interest which must be declared on your user page and, if you are unblocked, you should not edit the article about the school. You may make suggestions and provide reliable and independent references on the article talk page to support your suggestions and wait for other, uninvolved editors to decide whether the material should be included. The text on the box above provides instructions on how to appeal your block. Please follow those instructions precisely and an admin will then consider your appeal. It is also worth noting that much of the text that you added was a direct copyright violation of text on a website. Now it is highly likely that you control that website, but the text may still not be used on Wikipedia unless the copyright has been donated to Wikipedia. We can deal with the specific requirements of that policy if and when you are unblocked Velella  Velella Talk   08:02, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please, when responding here, add comments at the end so that the thread is kept in time order. To answer your questions, I am not an Admin and I cannot unblock your account. The instructions for requesting an unblock are included in the block notice above. Please follow those instructions to request an unblock. However.... your persistent insistence that you are the school's media manager with the inference that this should be enough to unblock your account suggests very strongly that you have not read and understood WP:COI and also WP:COPYVIO. Unless you provide assurances that you understand these policies and will abide by them, it is unlikely that this account will be unblocked.  Velella  Velella Talk   17:13, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Articles on Wikipedia must follow project standards. For example, your earlier edits to the Cottesloe School article added promotional text copied from a page on the school's official website, which is a violation of Wikipedia's policy against promotion. Additionally, if the school did not release the text under an open license, the edit was also a violation of Wikipedia's policy against copyright violations. Please take some time to review Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, in particular, each of the three core content policies (verifiability, neutral point of view, and no original research), the policy against copyright violations, the policy on paid editing, and the username policy.
After reviewing these policies, you are welcome to request an unblock and select a username that satisfies the username policy. Specifically, the username must not be the name of an organization (e.g. The Cottesloe School) or a position at an organization (e.g. Thecottesloeschooldigital), but it can represent a named individual at an organization (e.g. [Your name] at The Cottesloe School). For an unblock request to be accepted, you must agree to disclose your affiliation with The Cottesloe School on your user page and also adhere to best practices regarding conflict-of-interest editing, such as the recommendations detailed in Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide (WP:PSCOI). I look forward to hearing your response. — Newslinger talk 00:02, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
