Dampiera altissima edit

Hello,

I checked out your edit. Looks good so far. I've added the article to my watchlist and will keep an eye on it. If you need any help at all, please feel free to ask, especially about good sources of info.

(Small improvements suggested: 1. Don't link Western Austalia overlinking, most readers would know where it is, but maybe link Perth. 2. "Tall dampiera" needs a reference - it's not mentioned in the Flora of Australia.) Good luck with your studies. Gderrin (talk) 07:19, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello TRD222, congratulations on attempting to improve a stub for WP. In regards to expanding the article I suggest the following steps: Use the taxonbar links to gain information, summarize the info and then place it in the article using the headings and order of the Wikiproject Plants guidelines. Next have a look at the academic literature using the academic search engines available at your institution, you may also want to check out Google Scholar for others, though beware of predatory journal entries there (see Stop Predatory Journals through Google). There you will find more in-depth info and those interesting facts about what make this plant both unique and part of an ecological community. Good luck, hope you and yours are well. Brunswicknic (talk) 11:07, 15 April 2021 (UTC) oh, p.s. please include economic botany, ethnobotany, and archaeobotany stuff, why, hey, it's what I'm into, biogeography and evolutionary history are also good.Reply
Hi all! Thank you so much for your suggestions, I've taken them into consideration. I'm still working on the article at the moment, but I've made some significant edits recently. Please feel free to make other edits or suggest changes! Thank you so much TheRealDinosaur222 (talk) 05:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's coming along nicely. A couple of small points. 1. You can avoid constant repetition of Dampiera altissima by abbreviating to D. altissima (although I prefer not to do that at the start of a sentence). 2. Treat the introductory section (the "lead") as a summary - no references - the reference should be in the body of the article under headings like "Description". 3. I don't think you should "pad" the article with material (including images) that are in important articles like Dampiera, George Bentham, William Dampier or Ferdinand von Mueller. 4. "Flat" in the first sentence is a bit weird, especially when the plant's name is "tall dampiera". That'll do for now. Keep up the good work! Gderrin (talk) 10:51, 24 May 2021 (UTC) P.S. Useful page. Hi! Thanks for your suggestions, I've corrected the minor ones and I agree that I've 'padded' the article a little bit since I'm still trying to find more research and information; when I do, I'll be sure to edit that again. Just a quick question, I noticed you changed the section heading "Cultivation" to "Uses in horticulture" and I had a look at the WikiProjects and was wondering if I should move this section under "Uses" and make it a subsection? I'll move it now, however, please feel free to move it back if it looks wrong, but thank you for pointing this out! TheRealDinosaur222 (talk) 09:33, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
