Hello, Thala, I noticed your contributions to Ajith's article. You are currently adding information about the heroines which played opposite Ajith in his movies. When you visit other Indian actor pages, like Shahrukh Khan, you'll notice that this information isn't part of a filmography. Cast information (heroines included) belongs into the articles of the movies, not the actors. --Plumcouch 12:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Thala,

thanks for your quick response. As a matter of fact, there a guidelines how an article should look like and how certain things are presented at Wikipedia. I don't think it's necessary to remined people who had a part in whose movie. Movie pages usually display that fact. Also, in the past, citing heroines as been abused to show that Actor A has played opposite more successful heroines than Actor B and therefore, is "better" than Actor B. We had some difficulties with hardcore fans who used cast information to promote their favored star. Since I don't want that to happen again (since Wiki is neutral and this only results and edit wars and worse), generally, cast information at all is cut from articles. If there are other pages that include cast information, they (the cast information, not the article) should be deleted, too. And as for comparisons: actor stays actor and everyone, no matter how popular or different, should be treated the same for the sake of neutrality. --Plumcouch 12:37, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merge Tag at Thala

edit

Hello, Thala, just noticed you deleted the merge tag over at the Thala article. Since Thala and Ajith Kumar are the same person, why don't we merge the two articles? No information will be lost, only a redirection will be added. --Plumcouch 12:43, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Trisha Krishnan

edit

Hello, Thala, I noticed you reverted my edits at Trisha Krishnan's article. Unfortunately, it cannot stay the way it looks currently. There are tots of terms, that are simply un-encyclopaedic, like:

  • Trisha has proved to be one of the best actressess of modern times
  • Her light brown eyes and glorious smile will take her to places.
  • emerged victorious with her stunning looks
  • From that point she has never looked back.
  • Trisha can now look ahead to fairly comfortable year as the films she's acting in are all bound to do well in the box office. But now she has competition to claim the number 1 spot in South India.
  • Both these films are set to be successes.

To mention a few. The current pic is a violation of copyright since it doesn't have information on copyright holder or a fair use rationale. Also, the article is badly organized: Several facts, like where she studied and that she won the Miss India Miss Beautiful Smile in 2001 title are repeated; career information and personal information are mixed up and commercials are noted. Wikipedia mentions that people are Brand Ambassadors for products, but not for which products since this would be an indirect form of advertising - that's generally not encouraged.

Either you clean up the article or I'll do it - however, I do not want it to result in an edit war. Also, for other editors, it's always recommended to write into the edit summary what you changed.

Best regards, --Plumcouch 20:05, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added a picture with copyright information. (Yours had the description: copyright holder is Trisha and the photograph team or something along those lines -- that's simply not enough, you need the name of the photopgrapher or the agency). As for anything else: the entire text it a copyright violation, taken from here [1]. Either you rewrite the article or I'll to it. --Plumcouch 23:55, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Trisha Krishnan

edit

Hello, Thala, about Trisha Krishnan's picture: if you provide proper copyright information, I *will* leave it alone, if you don't, we'll keep the one which has a copyright holder and a fair use rationale. Putting back a picture without proper copyright info is considered vandalism - if you keep it up, I'll inform an admin. Best regards, --Plumcouch 19:40, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do not add that picture back into the article until you have fully resolved the copyright issues involved. --Yamla 19:52, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Tn sada-33.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tn sada-33.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 16:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Tn sada-33.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tn sada-33.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 16:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:MounamPesiyadhey.jpg

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MounamPesiyadhey.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you for uploading Image:Actress-10.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Yamla 16:41, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
