Disambiguation link notification for January 25 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Xbox 360 games, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Spike and Action-adventure (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

About credible sources edit

Some of your recent edits don't take into account that not everything is a good, reputable source. Other users have changed your edits to be better sources, but there may not always be a credible source when adding information. It goes against editing on Wikipedia to add original research or poor sources, especially since your edit was on the page List of Xbox One games which the community decided every game needs to be properly referenced. These following Wikipedia guidelines will be helpful:

  • Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not This will help guide you in what shouldn't be put on Wikipedia, with emphasis on the crystal ball sections.
  • Wikipedia:Verifiability This will help show what is not considered good sources. In it is a link to the most relevant guideline that pertains to some of your edits: Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources#News_organizations. The text "News reporting from less-established outlets is generally considered less reliable for statements of fact." is something to think about. Not every source online is considered reputable. In video gaming on Wikipedia we get by with laughably low quality of referenced sources. Imagine sourcing a Gawker network (gaming world: Kotaku) article on the World War II Wikipedia page. We'd likely be warned for using a bad source and our edits immediately reverted.

With the above we can look at to your edits referenced. The website Xbox Achievements is a fan website. Another user removed your source and applied Eurogamer which is a more well known organization for gaming news that has been around for a long time and is even on Wikipedia. When I removed the game previously, it was because there were no credible sources like Eurogamer reporting on it. IGN had an article here on it but it had noted that it was a rumor: "but IGN has reached out to the company about the accuracy of the retailer listing." I hope you can see why the source removed was considered non-credible and I hope this helps your future Wikipedia contributions. --WhereAmI (talk) 19:09, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
