Since you were the only contributor to that page, it was okay for you to blank it as a deletion request. I've tagged it to be deleted because of that. - Josh (talk | contribs) 19:38, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Take a look at the Main Page

edit

The Main Page is the most visited page on the English Wikipedia.

If your browser has WikEd (For Mozilla Firefox (1.5 and up), Safari (2 and up) and Google Chrome (for Windows)), you can click the Main Page link on the top

of the Navigation box. If your browser does not have WikEd (Internet Explorer, various (thousands) web browsers), what will you do? --Tamiera (talk) 20:44, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

For Anonymous Users

edit

Users who did not create an account are called anonymous users. They appear as IP Addresses that only edit pages that are not protected. They cannot create pages in the (Main) name space nor upload images or files. --Tamiera (talk) 20:44, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense content means trouble on Wikipedia

edit

Edits from anonymous users in schools and businesses are normal because they can be blocked and can't edit Wikipedia; they are normal for anonymous users and replace some articles in Wikipedia with bad words or statements, such as the edit that 204.108.10.80 (formerly 204.108.96.19) put "HELLO LOSER" in the Webster's Dictionary article. Anonymous users edit a lot and cause vandalism on Wikipedia (see WP:Vandalism). Merry Christmas! --Tamiera (talk) 20:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

204.108.80.10 is blocked for a year

edit

Many IP addresses from educational institutions visit the English Wikipedia and make lots of edits that do not make sense. Then, they get blocked for a period of time.

Wikipedia:Meta

edit

I've reversed your recent move of this page to Wikipedia Meta Wiki, for several reasons. Firstly, the page is not really an article; it's a resource for editors. Secondly, it's not clear to me that Meta meets our notability guidelines required for articles. Thirdly, we already have an article on the Wikimedia Foundation that does meet our guidelines, and covers some aspects of Meta. Fourthly, and most importantly, a large change, like moving a project-space page into the main article namespace, needs to be discussed before being done. I couldn't find any discussion of this move. While you should feel free to Be bold, you should also consider carefully before you make such changes. Thanks. Gavia immer (talk) 18:28, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is vs. was

edit

Discontinued software is still the same software it always was. That's why we use the word "is" and not "was". - Josh (talk | contribs) 03:51, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Emily (Thomas and Friends). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. —macyes: bot 18:04, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

View Source/What User talk:Tamiera is not

edit

This talk page is in the middle of a major revamping. Do not edit this page. User talk:Tamiera is not:

  • MySpace.
  • a Fan-made talk page.
  • a paper talk page
  • a place to put advertisements (if it happens, it will be taken off, and later ripped up)
  • a blog.
  • a link from web search (Google, Yahoo! Search, Lycos, and Bing need to remove the link that goes to user page of this account)

Warning

edit

Any user who edits the page during the process will be reverted to this version and the edit will be removed. --Tamiera (talk) 21:40, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add content (particularly if you change facts and figures), as you have to the article Zwinky, please cite a reliable source for the content you're adding or changing. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
