Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Swort123. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID). Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 20:44, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
COI, again.
editSince you have already been warned, I will cut to the chase. It is very obvious that you have a conflict of interest for Burton Rocks. Do not add promotional content, as Wikipedia is not intended to be a platform for promotion. Avoid editing articles for which you have a conflict of interest. Instead, propose articles on the article's talk page: Talk:Burton Rocks. You may use Template:Request edit to insure an impartial editor will evaluate your request. Include reliable, independent sources. Avoid passing-mentions or press releases. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 03:33, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- When you use the "Request edit" template, you have to also explain exactly what you want changed, and you have to be willing to follow up on that to gain consensus for that change. Without any of this posting the template is like mailing a blank postcard. Please follow the instructions at Template:Request edit. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 04:26, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the confusion. trying again here to explain. Requesting the article be re-edited or revised to conform to wikipedia norms so COI can be removed once edited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swort123 (talk • contribs) 04:33, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- As Template:Request edit explains, you should create a new section at the bottom of the article's talk page by clicking the "new section" tab. From there, you should explain exactly what changes you want made. I have moved your post to the bottom, as this is standard for talk pages. If you need more explicite instructions, please see Template:Request edit/Instructions. You should also sign every talk page post. This is done by typing four tildes (~) at the end of your comment, like this: ~~~~ The software will automatically add your name and a timestamp, so other people can see who is commenting. This is explained in more detail at Wikipedia:Signatures.
- As for the issues themselves, if they were easy to fix, I would've just fixed them myself instead of adding the tags to the top of the page. I tried to explain this to you a couple of years ago, but was ignored, and the articles both seem to have gotten worse. This will need some time and attention to fix. Please review WP:PEACOCK as a starting point, and then propose specific changes to the articles, as described above. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 04:54, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
