To editor Bcndz5: This subject is not suited to Wikipedia nor is the subject notable. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and as such, we don't make pronouncements in Wikipedia's name, rather our articles state neutral facts or attribute wild claims to the sources of that information. Sentences like "Watts Rising - Transformative Community Climate is a symbol of resilience in the heart of Watts, Los Angeles." are beyond the pale and this article is replete with such hackery. This article should start by stating up-front that Watts Rising is a "collective of over 40 community and government organizations..." and then you list them. The trouble is that what you tell us about the collective and its goals comes from the members of the collective, which is not allowed per WP:SPS. Wikipedia does not perform original research based upon primary sources the way a student might in the academe. As a tertiary source, encyclopedias summarize what secondary sources say. While we might use those primary sources merely for verification purposes they cannot lend the subject notabilty. Notability comes from significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources like this in the LA Sentinel and this in climate Stewardship. I would think your students would be citing academic journals from JSTOR, not websites they found through Google. When you strip away the mere mentions and the primary sources from the subjects themselves, there's not enough for notability which is why this should never have been a subject in your class.
