Stoopid Monkey Logos edit

As you are probably aware, the Stoop!d Monkey page was the subject of an AfD and the result was, of course, "Keep". Currently, the logos are a point of contention with myself saying that they were part of the "Keep", while User:Calton saying they were to be dropped and the article was to remain.

I asked the admin who closed the AfD his opinion and he replied, "I just said the article was to be kept, I don't know about the logos". There wasn't a decision given on the logos and in the AfD only 3 users said the logos should go, only 1 said keep the article, lose the logos.

I am not sure how to handle this, but since the admin who closed the AfD made no decision and the AfD wasn't about the logos in the first place (and the majority said to keep the logos if you want to be picky about it, as far as I can tell).

This wasn't an issue from April 16th (immediately after the AfD) to May 3rd when User:Calton realized that I was blocked for 48hours (not related to this) and I couldn't revert his changes. User:Calton had no interest and made no changes on the page itself or the talk page during that time. So, to me, his initial revert on May 3rd was done because of my block.

I have asked two admins (in case one is offline) to revert his changes and put a block on the page until this can be worked out. I am also asking you, since you contributed to the AfD, what your opinion is on just the logos themselves. I appericate you input one way or the other. Thanks...SVRTVDude (VT)

Sorry for not checking this during the weekend until now, however it looks like the issue has been resolved. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 13:17, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mountain Vista Governors School edit

Redirects to deleted or non-existent articles can be speedy deleted, see WP:CSD. I have deleted these, thanks for bringing them to my notice. Request to reconsider your opinion on deletion of Clayton Middle/High School edit

Hi, Since your vote in favor of deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clayton Middle/High School, I added information from three news articles about the school which establishes notability under Wikipedia standards (WP:N). Please take a look at the revised Clayton Middle/High School article and reconsider your vote. Thanks! Noroton 16:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ricardo Aleman Deletion edit

Hi there. After reading what some had to say about my page, I volunteered to have it deleted. However, after having several fans email me about what happened to my wiki page, I talked to several other more notable comedians with pages on this site and asked their opinion. They argued that I should have a page, sighting that there are many comedians on here that are less notable in both credits and fan base. They also pointed out that America’s Got Talent in the highest rated show on television, and that many performers were edited out completely. So the fact that my piece aired means I did something notable enough to be aired to 12 million people. I would like to put my page back (as long as it’s agreed to be ok). I would certainly like to know if there was any content that was not acceptable. I followed the format of other comedian pages I saw, and only listed facts. Guidance is always appreciated. Thank you for your time and advice. Raleman 22:37, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello there! Well I remember on the AfD you said you have some articles written about you at home. What I would recommend is to get those articles online, and link them on your page so you pass WP:BIO. I'd fully support your page with some independance sources. Have a great weekend! --sumnjim talk with me·changes 22:58, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey again, I found 3 articles written about my America's Got Talent Performance[1][2][3]. This isnt big news in the entertainment world, but it is in the comedy world. Shecky is the major comedy ezine. Also my 20 second clip has been played over 1800 times in two days on YouTube[4], and was one of the top 100 most played comedy clips of the day yesturday. I give you so much props for giving it back to them. They think they are God or something. What does Piers know about talent anyways? I hate that guys. I support ya. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 20:15, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings, I was wondering if you could go to this Afd and provide any input possibly? Thanks --sumnjim talk with me·changes 13:33, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

bow Thank you for your comments. I know the user is partial to the article (as you can tell on TerrisFan's userpage) cuz he is from Vermont, and TerrisFan is going to support him, because he/she is his adopter, but I don't see how they can even fathom how their arguments establish notariety. Oh well. I found a couple more VT daily newspapers that are completely un-notable and I think I'll nominate them later today. Cya around --sumnjim talk with me·changes 14:30, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Of course I'm partial to the article: this paper has quite an impact on my day-to-day life, so it is important to me. I think Terriers is a guy, btw, as am I. I suppose we shall have to do battle on the other articles too...(saddened sigh)...oh well. We'll see what happens. It would seem as if we both have people to side with us on the issues at hand. Would you like to comment on this afd?? I don't know what to say to this guy, he's saying after what I said in my vote that he's going to put all the soccer and basketball and football players up for afd!!! I don't know why? Just a note... edit

I'm giving you a friendly warning that looking through some of your comments on other people's user pages, you could be said to be canvassing for votes on AfDs. David Fuchs 23:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm, that's funny. All I said was for them to put in their input. If you looked closer you'd notice that most of them disagreed with me. So yeah... --sumnjim talk with me·changes 04:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
The point is you aren't supposed to solicit the opinions of other users in such a manner. In addition, I find some of your actions on AfDs you have participated in in questionable taste (such as accusing users of being single-purpose accounts, or trying to belittle those who disagree with you). David Fuchs 11:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
You are mistaken my friend. I've never accused people of being a SPA. I put a note on the AfD where the only people (at the time) to voted to keep an article were in fact the only contributors to the article: ie: they were obviously biased. I find your accusations rude and uncalled for, and I ask you stay off my talk page --sumnjim talk with me·changes 12:02, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
And I'm asking you to desist with the canvassing, lest I have to report you. David Fuchs (talk) 12:22, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
You must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed or something...then again, by looking at your talk page there is at least one other person who has noticed your complete rudeness and utter lack of respect. Please, I beg you to report me. I'd like to see how that turns out. 1) The people who I asked for input (I never asked them to vote any which way) were completely random 2) I think I asked 5 people for their input (and that was because the only people who were discussing the AfD were myself and 2 editors of the article itself) and 3) most all of them disagreed with me anyways. So please, report me. I'd like to remind you to stay off my userpage before I start throwing around the "report" word for you stalking me. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 12:37, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
And if you had read the entire thread, you would have seen that the entire thing was a misunderstanding and me and the other user parted on friendly terms. Point is, it is not your place to point out the bias of other editors in such a way; it would seem to fly in the face of WP:AGF, since you're judging people as being biased automatically from their association with a subject. I've opened up a discussion with other admins. Stalking? How so... David Fuchs (talk) 20:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I didn't "assume" anything. I read their talk pages, along with their "adopter" talk pages, and they were requesting help because they were partial to the article, and wanted help in defending the article. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 13:01, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Third opinion edit

OK, my opinion has some parts:

  1. Requests on Wikipedia:Third opinion should state the dispute neutrally. That didn't happen.
  2. Sumnjim: David Fuchs is correct, you should not solicit votes for an AfD, regardless of the purity of your motives. Let others find the AfD on their own. An admin will decide on the merits of the arguments presented - and will not decide based on majority vote. I have seen AfDs that went against the majority because the minority had better arguments.
  3. David Fuchs: I refer you to WP:POINT. This applies to interaction with other editors as well as article edits. =Axlq 03:47, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regarding IP address edit blocking edit

You should be aware that this IP address is dynamically allocated to a number of dialup users, and so disallowing edits from it will simply irritate legitimate users (Ok, maybe just me, and just until I disconnect), but anyway that's the story. Thanks. 207.144.184.130 07:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Barrymore Family edit

hi, it took you two days. Wow. You did the schematic very well, sorry I took it out of kilter just a bit. I tried correcting it, even reverting back to the original way you had it. But I felt the diagram was incomplete without adding Lionel Barrymore's first wife Doris Rankin and the two children they had together, Mary Barrymore & Ethel Barrymore II. Also Lionel's second wife Irene Fenwick and John Barrymore's first wife Katherine Corri Harris. Please forgive me for taking the diagrahm out of semblence but I wanted to alert someone's attention to adding Lionel's first wife and family, his second wife and John's first wife. However thanks so much for responding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.100.203 (talk) 01:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again Sumnjim, I just got back from viewing the Barrymore family scheme and see that you've already added Doris and the girls. Perhaps the other additions can be made later. Kudos to you again for this diagrahm. You say it took you two days to construct it. It took me nearly a day to mess it up. All my best Sumnjim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.100.203 (talk) 01:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

hi Sumnjim, the tree looks great now, more complete. Kudos again, Wikipedia is crazy today as i've tried to write this message 3 times and the boards were locked so i'll try to get throught to you now. The only addition left is Elaine Barrie John Barrymore's fourth and last wife. Myra Nicholson article trashing edit

Please have some respect. The World's Oldest People webgroup is run by me...and I do these tables for Guinness World Records. According to Wiki rules, sources like this are acceptable if the person is an expert in the field.

Further, the death report came from Dr. John McCormack of Latrobe Univ, Australia, whom I sure is a reliable source.Ryoung122 18:21, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

How hard is it to provide a source, Mr. Expert? --sumnjim talk with me·changes 18:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Additional comment. Depending on the subject and context, then yes, an expert's word is usually accepted. However, in this subject and context, there is no middle ground or gray area. Either she has passed away or not. If she has, where is her obituary? I'm not denying that she has passed away, I'm just simply asking for an obit or something verifying her passing. In this case, there has got to be an obit somewhere about her passing, if she has indeed passed. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 19:07, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Obituaries are usually not written the day or day after a death. Here is a newspaper article confirming that she has indeed died. Richard B 19:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
First of all, thank you for finding and source to confirm her passing. Though I know she's not in the same category as high profile celebrities, who's death is always put out in the media almost immediately after being notified, she was the oldest living person in her country, which would most likely have some sort of article online on the same day (or at least presumed), hence why I was so steadfast about having a source before updating the page. What I don't understand is why some people can't just wait for a source first, then update an article after they have supporting documentation....shrug. Thanks again. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 20:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of List of shopping malls in the United States edit

An editor has nominated List of shopping malls in the United States, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of shopping malls in the United States (3rd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
