  Hello, Asanisimasafilms. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Travis Gutiérrez Senger, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 23:21, 11 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

What is the best way to address issues with the page? Can I simply edit the source or is there another step. I want to make sure I do a good job and abide by Wikipedia's policies. Asanisimasafilms (talk) 04:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Desert Cathedral (film). I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! COI

edit

Hi, and thanks for your edits. You have stated on both the movie and the director pages (edit summary/talk page) that "there is no COI." But by definition, the fact that you have a real world connection to the subjects means you do have a COI. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it means that you should be careful about removing maintenance tags about notability yourself, and that it is preferable that you suggest edits on the talk pages of the article rather than directly edit the articles yourself. Thanks, Melcous (talk) 05:34, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Melcous. Thanks for your note. I understand now what you mean. I am new to Wikipedia and didn't know the process for requesting that maintenance tags be removed. By suggesting edits on the talk page, do you mean updating the page at all? Or when I've made updates to the page that align it with Wikipedia's policies and then suggest the removal of tags? I believe now the information presented is objective and sourced and is similar to other independent film pages I've looked at. Let me know if there's anything in particular that needs more attention. At this point, can you remove the COI/Notability tags? Thanks again for your help with this. I appreciate your patience with me. I will not make the same mistakes twice. Best, Sullibird (talk) 13:22, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your help Melcous. Regarding notability, the Wikipedia general policy is as follows: If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list. With regards to Travis Gutiérrez Senger's page and Desert Cathedral (film) page, what would be the best way to establish notability in addition to what I have already done? You suggest a third party validate the claim. How does that happen? Thanks for your guidance.

Image Upload Abuse Filter

edit

Hi Melcous. I am trying to upload a photo to the info box and continue to get an error when I upload: {{autotranslate|base=Abusefilter-warning-baduploads}} Can you explain what the problem is and what is the best way to resolve? Thanks very much. Sullibird (talk) 16:31, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm sorry I don't know what that error is about. Have you tried reading WP:UPI for help? Melcous (talk) 08:31, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
No, worries. I hadn't read that exact page. Will go through it and see if I can't figure it out. Thanks! Sullibird (talk) 13:40, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
