  • Editors using the mobile website on Wikipedia can opt-in to new advanced features via your settings page. This will give access to more interface links, special pages, and tools.
  • The advanced version of the edit review pages (recent changes, watchlist, and related changes) now includes two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces.

Question

I'm wondering why you speedied User:CaddoLakeInstitute after I'd declined, and chose to indef after I requested time for discussion and uName change on UAA? Or at least, why you did both without a courtesy note to me? Thanks in advance - KillerChihuahua 18:06, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi KillerChihuahua! I actually didn't see the UAA discussion - it's not an area I tend to monitor. It's fairly standard practice to block accounts which indicate the account represents an organisation or a group - you will notice that the block message notes that their username is the only reason for the block, and that they're welcome to request a change of username, or to freely create a new account if they so wish. You're welcome to review the username policy on this matter if you wish.
As the deletion log entry shows, I deleted the page as a blatant copyright violation, which is completely separate from the deletion reason you declined. I'm a bit surprised you didn't notice that it was a likely copyright violation of the subject's website, but I guess even the best of us miss things occasionally! :) We do need to be very careful about copyrighted content, as even accidental inclusion of copyrighted content can cause serious problems for the redistributability of our content, and can also cause future legal issues surrounding who actually owns the content. For just one example, if you start with copyrighted content, and then make changes to it so it's changed beyond all recognition, it will probably still be classified as a derivative of the original copyrighted work, and thus still a violation of copyrights. There's a bunch more information on this at WP:COPYVIO if you're interested in reading.
I do apologise for not dropping you a note immediately - that was my original intention. Unfortunately, real life (in this case train timetables) sometimes gets in the way of doing things as promptly as I'd wish (a sudden expletive-laden outburst followed by a sprint to the station ensued...). It was my intention to follow up on this now, but it appears you've beaten me to it. stwalkerster (talk) 18:46, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your kind and clear explanation - I was thinking it was (hopefully) something like that. We just crossed in the night is all. Again, thank you! KillerChihuahua 18:55, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
