The script for ACC

I finished the script, and I've kept it here: User:Manishearth/ACC.js. I've tested it, and it works on Chrome. I doubt that there are any security issues, as the JS never communicates with outside stuff. It only does stuff with styles and adds bits of HTML. The script, when it encounters a username with blacklisted text in it, will make the username (the blue link) red. It will hide all action (brown) links (Except Upolicy, custom, drop), and also hide the blue "Create!" link. An additional thing that the script does is, if a blacklisted username is on the page, it adds a little notice saying: "Some actions have been hidden from view for blacklisted usernames (in red). Click here to restore", with a link to unhide the hidden stuff (blacklisted names will still be red, though). The script will only run on the main page and the "Details for request #" pages (No changes need to be made if switching from sandbox to main). To install, copy-paste the text to (You probably know this): Sandbox: http://toolserver.org/~acc/sand/script.js Main:http://toolserver.org/~acc/script.js Thx, ManishEarthTalkStalk 10:30, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Does it do it if an account with the string in it is requested (for example, "sadminnie" contains the phrase "admin", but it is most likely to be "sad minnie" - does that mean that such an account couldn't be created?) -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 13:42, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't block creation. It only makes the username red, hides the blue "Create!" link and all brown links except "UPolicy", "Custom", "Defer". It does catch names like Sadminnie, which is why, when a request is blacklisted, a link pops up at the top of the page which allows you to unhide the hidden links (The blacklisted name will still be red). So, this script is completely reversible.

Hiding close links is not a good idea. As Phantomsteve pointed out, there are false positives. That's why I removed it from the blacklist in the first place. I'll look into it when I have time. Stwalkerstertalk ] 18:34, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Which is exactly why they can be easily unhidden. ManishEarthTalkStalk 03:15, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
There's a config variable. Change the value of var handleBrown (current value "hidden") in the config header to "visible" ManishEarthTalkStalk 04:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Request for Comment on the Edit Filter talk page

Hi Stwalkerster, Around a week ago, I had applied for the edit filter 'view only' rights in order to try in the future to suggest changes to certain filters available especially in the NPP area, an area that I have been active in. Xeno replied on the Edit Filter talk page that if some trusted users could vouch for me, he would look at the granting of the permission. You are one user who has interacted with me very rarely, although you would've come across me and my work on the ACC Tool. I have left a note on users Phantomsteve, Chzz, deliriousandlost and Stifle's page requesting them for comment. But they are individuals with whom I have interacted much more than I would have with you. Therefore, I wanted to request you to kindly leave your uninvolved comment on the Edit Filter talk page discussion about how you find me as a trustworthy/untrustworthy editor with respect to edit filter (view only) rights. Whatever your views might be, whether pro or anti, I would appreciate your comments. Warm regards. ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ―Œ ♣Łeave Ξ мessage♣ 09:45, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Issue with Autowelcome (bot)

Hi. The autowelcome for users being created by the ACC tool has not been working for some few days. Thought I'd leave a note out here. Also, your 'talk' link on the main user page and even on this user page links up to the svg file instead of the talk page... ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ―Œ ♣Łeave Ξ мessage♣ 11:53, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Looks OK for me, can you tell me what the problem actually is? Stwalkerstertalk ] 18:20, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure. For example, Wilking1979, who has the auto-welcoming option checked on the ACC tool, created user User:Ssimi on 19th April 2010. But the User talk:Ssimi did not get the welcome message that generally is left by the auto welcome-bot. I had a chat with Wilking1979 and we realised even his past new created users haven't received the auto welcome message. This has been the case even with my new created accounts since many days. ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ―Œ ♣Łeave Ξ мessage♣ 04:13, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Not working for me, either. The users I've created for the past few days (log) have red talk links (Except for User:Badgersett1, who I manually welcomed). ManishEarthTalkStalk 14:08, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
The queue appears to be cleared, but no welcome messages are left. None of mine have been (I've been doing it manually), but I thought maybe it was my template - but a random look at other accounts created using the tool show that welcome messages have not been left -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 14:17, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
