WP:Biographies of living people

Mick Foley

I've been thinking about this and I believe that removing Foley from [[Category:Fictional characters with multiple personalities]] was the correct decision. The category only includes articles on fictional characters. As Foley is effectively an actor, his biography shouldn't appear there, just as Robert DeNiro and Dawn French (for example) do not appear there despite having portrayed characters with multiple personalities. Trailer Park Boys

A show only belongs in Category:LGBT-related television programs if LGBT themes and content are central to the show, such that it's impossible to summarize the show's basic premise without making reference to them. To get a show into that category you have to, credibly and without giving the LGBT characters WP:UNDUE weight, get the existence of LGBT content right into the article's introduction or its basic premise summary. It goes on Will and Grace, for example, because the show's basic premise is "gay guy and his female roommate". It goes on Queer as Folk, because that show's basic premise is "the lives of a group of gay and lesbian friends".

It does not go on every show that happens to have an LGBT supporting character or two in it — if the characters were entirely removed from the show and you would not have to do a total rewrite of practically every single word in the entire article as a result, then the show is not "LGBT-related". The category is for shows where LGBT content is central to the show's entire raison d'être in a WP:DEFINING way, not for every single show that happens to acknowledge the fact that LGBT people exist. If Ricky, Julian or Bubbles were LGBT, then the show would probably warrant inclusion the category — but one or two minor supporting characters, who aren't sitting at the core of what the show is about, don't get it in there. "Minor supporting characters", are you kidding? Randy and Lahey are in every episode and play a MAJOR role in each of them, they are just as central to the show as Ricky, Julian and Bubbles. By your logic, you might as well go ahead and remove Six Feet Under from American LGBT-related television programs because the "basic" premise of that show is not that two of the main characters are gay but that one of them and his brother are funeral directors. So very central to the show that their "major role in every episode" is only just barely acknowledged anywhere in the article besides the cast list, and what little content about them does exist completely fails to even contain a single appearance of the word "bisexual", or any indication that they're in a romantic relationship rather than just friends, anywhere at all? While I grant that it's possible that you might actually be right about how central they are, the article in its existing form fails to properly demonstrate that — to be allowed into the category, an article has to explicitly clarify why it belongs there, but the article in its present form does not. So if it's really that important to you that it be added to the category, the the article will have to be expanded with content that supports its inclusion. It's not my responsibility to know that a show has bisexual characters in it if the article fails to say that; it's the article's responsibility to contain the content needed to justify its inclusion in an LGBT-related category.
