Welcome! edit

Hello, SpinksCreative, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:Data Protection and Risk Mitigation (DPRM), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

The page Draft:Data Protection and Risk Mitigation (DPRM) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

February 2024 edit

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I signed up using my most easy to use email address, but will happily change this to my personal one, with a new username as not to breach any policy, this was not my intention.

Decline reason:

per 331dot below. I should mention that using one's real name is not a good idea. (As I learned to my sorrow). You might want to change that requested username. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:58, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You may use whatever email address you wish, it isn't public, and we don't need to know if it is "business" or "personal". Your username is not the only issue here; please review the block notice and the policies therein carefully. 331dot (talk) 10:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

OK sure - I will happily edit the article I am looking to publish in accordance with this block, but I am unable to do so until the block has been lifted, so I am unsure as to how I am supposed to continue here, can you assist? SpinksCreative (talk) 11:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You were writing an unsourced promotional essay, it seems for the expressed purpose of mentioning a client as your username is that of a marketing firm. A long way from a valid encyclopedia article. Again, please read the notice abive and the policies linked to therein carefully. You will need to demonstrate your understanding of these policies by telling us what will be different about your editing if unblocked, and you will need to tell what edits you intend to make if unblocked. 331dot (talk) 11:54, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
rename deferred -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:25, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Renamer note: I should mention that using one's real name is not a good idea. (As I learned to my sorrow). You might want to change that requested username.
I'm not convinced you could edit about that subject in a non promotional manner. What other edits might you make? Plus what 331dot already said. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 11:50, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
