Kindly meet the renowned scholars of South Asian Studies at home and abroad and ask for their opinion about Rai Chowdhuri. Then if you have any further questions please come with that. I will be happy to face your question.

Removing comments on article discussion page edit

It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed content from Talk:Satyabrata Rai Chowdhuri. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. --AbsolutDan (talk) 20:35, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I do understand. But the discussion was regarding reviews which do not exist anymore. So is there any justification for this comment to be here at all?Sophiesorbonne 05:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, even if the work has been completed, the comment should remain "on the record". The only time that information should be removed from a talk page is if it is archived, is a personal attack, or if it is completely off-topic. --AbsolutDan (talk) 12:59, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Professor Rai Chaudhuri edit

I am sorry if you were offended about my comment. My intention was not at all to cast aspersions on Professor Rai Chaudhuri's scholarship nor his standing; I simply felt that the article did not do him justice and was phrased in too vague and unsupported a manner to give a real sense of his achievements. I am well aware of his standing and was concerned that those outside India who do not know his name would not come away with an accurate idea of his contributions. My efforts to clean up the phrasing had that objective. The present article is fine although the addition of a select bibliography would be nice. The previous one duplicated a lot of stuff that had been syndicated around the world, and it was hard to find things in it. best regards --- Rimi 15:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sophiesorbonne, if you have some time and resources, how about adding a section to Satyabrata Rai Chaudhuri's page regarding his major theories, findings and books? Thanks

License tagging for Image:Sir Satyabrata.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sir Satyabrata.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Notice you have userbox Oxonian. Could you go to the Ashmolean and take a photo of the Domitianus coin, to replace Image:Domitianus coin.jpg, which may soon be deleted for not being fair use. Thanks! Neddyseagoon - talk 13:36, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tapan Ray Chaudhuri edit

Greetings. I noticed that the most common spellings on the web are either "Raychaudhari" or "Raychaudhuri", and "Ray Chaudhuri" is found only once. I suspect Raychaudhuri is correct. Could you confirm and change the article accordingly? Thanks.Amberhabib 06:04, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A new Oxbridge user box edit

Sophiesorbonne...I am currently in the process of writing a user box for all of the colleges that are part of Oxbridge. This template is meant to replace your current college template. Please take a look at the work in progress and comment on it. My main concerns are college abbreviations and color choice. I am using scarf colors for the colleges. Thank you. - LA @ 17:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
