Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Sopheak Phoung. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Sopheak Phoung, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. -- Samtar talk · contribs 09:45, 21 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article Sopheak Phoung has been deleted, as it is clear that you do not come near to being notable enough to be the topic of a Wikipedia article. If and when you become notable enough to be the topic of a Wikipedia article, probably some independent person, with no connection to you, will create an article about you, but unless and until that happens you should not be the subject of an article. Also, a talk page is for messages and discussions relating to editing the encyclopaedia: it is not a place for posting content unrelated to work for Wikipedia. References in Wikipedia articles must cite reliable sources. Web sites where anyone can post anything, such as Wikipedia and Facebook, are not suitable as references. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 10:00, 21 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

A Wikipedia user page is for someone who is active in working for the project to give a little information about himself or herself in connection with his or her work for the encyclopaedia: it is not a place to post a personal web page, unrelated to work for Wikipedia. You are, of course, welcome to make contributions to the encyclopaedia, in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, but if your purpose is to write a personal web page, then you would be better advised to use one of the many web sites which do provide that sort of service, such as a social network site or a web hosting service.
