I've blocked for a month. I also took the liberty of deleting his garbage from your user page history - I don't see any reason why you should have that crap hanging around. I was going to delete the crap from your user talk page history too, but it is interspersed with legit discussion, so I didn't bother. Hesperian 05:00, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Brilliant, thank you! :) Somno (talk) 05:02, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Just FYI, the only way to delete revisions from a page is to delete the page entirely, then restore the revisions you want. That's why you talk page disappeared for a moment. I would be surprised if your friend is back in a month. You've got to be pretty disturbed to put "start harassing Somno again" on your calendar. Hesperian 05:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, that explains that. I don't know, someone making 5 edits to mainspace and 59 edits harassing me - that's pretty disturbed! :) Somno (talk) 05:13, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'd bet London to a brick we've been dealing with "some punk kid", not a disturbed adult. Now that he can't scrawl on your user page, he'll go back to scrawling on bus stops. Hesperian 05:18, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Haha, I just imagined a kid scrawling "Somno sucks" on a bus stop. Somno (talk) 05:22, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

External links on Nissan articles
Thanks for cleaning up all the fan club external links. A few of the articles were getting out of hand. --Brownings (talk) 17:34, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
(Don't know where to post this. Hope you read it) I'm sorry for adding that link to the Sentra page. I'm not a big wiki user so I don't really know the rules, anyways there was a link in the Nissan Motors page that I saw and thought.. if that one's there why can't I put a car club. I erased the link anyways in the Nissan Motors page, it was a car games site.
Thanks for keeping wikipedia clean though. (thumbs up) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alfa 1366 (talk • contribs) 18:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Link removed from Dodge Diplomat
I have just reviewed WP:EL and cannot understand why you removed the external link. The page whose link you removed is far and away the most authoritative site on the web about Dodge Diplomats, and I think it is entirely relevant. On the other hand, the link you allowed to remain contains far less useful information. In fact, the page whose link you allowed to remain once awarded the deleted site a rather coveted award for its comprehensive content. Fjbfour (talk) 22:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Fjbfour, I didn't know enough about the other link to decide whether to remove it, but the link I removed I considered to be a combination of two of the points under "Links normally to be avoided" in the External links guideline: 11. Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups) or USENET, and 12. Links to blogs and personal web pages, except those written by a recognized authority. The only suitable links for pages on vehicles (in my opinion - happy to hear other opinions) are reviews by reputable reviewers/companies and the official website(s) for the car. Forums, clubs, personal webpages etc don't normally meet the criteria. Hope that makes sense. :) Somno (talk) 00:08, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. I guess being called a "community" was misleading. It is not a social networking site. It does have a forum but that is only a small piece of the site, and the link did not point to it. It is not a blog or a personal web page. It does, however, contain some old reviews, a history of the model, and contains copious amounts of technical information for owners. Unless you still object, I'd propose allowing it back in. Thanks for the discussion. Fjbfour (talk) 01:39, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, no objection from me. It was mostly the "community" name and the unprofessional look of the webpage that caused me to remove it, plus I was in "mass-delete" mode as I went through dozens of vehicle articles looking for links that obviously violated the guideline. You've had a proper look at the site and believe it adds value to the article, so no objection from me to adding it back! The Dodge Diplomat article is one of the best car articles I saw yesterday - most of the Nissan articles are terrible. Somno (talk) 02:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Good work with the referencing! :)
Just to save you time re the WA locality ones - we have a ref template for Landgate suburb histories. {{LandInfo WA|m|X|2008-02-15}} where X is the first letter of the suburb's name (m means metropolitan so you don't need to change this). Orderinchaos 03:03, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- I thought I'd seen something like that around but couldn't find it again! Thanks! Somno (talk) 03:06, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- No worries :) It has a nice generic name and a template because this department moves site regularly - 3 times in the last 3 years the department has changed name or branding (DLS -> DOLA -> DLI -> Landgate) Orderinchaos 03:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Makes sense. I think that's the same for most government departments! Somno (talk) 03:12, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Howard "living" PM
Hi Somno, you asked for the word "living" to be removed from the sentence about Howard being the only living PM not to attend Sorry Day. What other way could it be described? I can't think of an alternative that gets the same meaning across. You may wish to answer the question on this page, on my page, or on the article talk page. Either way. Hill
I was strolling around Dumas House yesterday, killing a little time and looking at one of my favourite buildings - the old Perth Observatory. The site plan you have mentioned proposed knocking it down, the building containing the telescope was removed. It is a curious little area, I have some references to the history of it somewhere. I notice that Dumas house is given a Perth address; it is not straightforward, but I thought it is West Perth. Can you keep an eye out for any facts relating to that, there are a few articles that I have long intended to improve. Cheers, cygnis insignis 02:30, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- It definitely would have been a shame to knock down the old observatory and replace it with 5 Dumas Houses... despite Dumas House's lovely "Post-War International style of architecture"... I just came across something [2] that says Dumas House was inspired by the Reichsbank project [3], so I'm going to follow up that lead. The maps Moondyne linked to have a good diagram of what the Stephenson-Hepburn report proposed for the observatory site [4] - it could be used on that page as well? Somno (talk) 02:41, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- The Reichsbank?! Combined with the fact that our trains run on time, people might get the wrong idea about our fair state! I don't see a resemblance myself, perhaps the building has been altered. I will add the cited thesis (Crist) to my reading list. cygnis insignis 03:10, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't either, until I compared this picture [5] to the complex shown in the 1955 map. Still seems a bit far-fetched, but it's worth checking out (although I'm hoping there is no link to a building for a bank controlled by Hitler). I don't know if I share your view about the trains being on time though - I've heard that "passengers for Perth, your services are running late" message quite often lately. :) Somno (talk) 03:45, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- The influence of Mies van der Rohe is more plausible, I had always assumed Walter Gropius. I must get into some of this stuff again. cygnis insignis 03:57, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- The article could always use more stuff, so either way, it's something new to add. My knowledge of architecture is all Frank Lloyd Wright-related, and I'm somewhat certain that's not relevant. ;) Somno (talk) 04:13, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Exotic dancer
somno, im sorry to paste my emails here but i dont know how else to communicate with you. I was on maxim magazine with similar content. On hbo latin america. I am also a dancer myself and this is an article made by all of my co-workers who are dancers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dancerdoll (talk • contribs) 03:55, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Kelly, yes, you probably do know a lot about the industry, I'm not disputing that, and I'm also not disputing that the information is true. I am saying that it's not a reliable source as far as Wikipedia is concerned. The article on Dancerdolls has this as its sole reference: "This article is based on the experience and opinions of seasoned dancers and ex-dancers who were interviewed by Kelly Davis of Dancerdolls.com". Wikipedia is not the place for the people's experience and opinions, no matter how true or interesting. Does this make sense? Have you read the reliable sources policy I mentioned on your talk page? I think it does a better job of explaining it than I do! Hope that helps, Somno (talk) 04:12, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: Moogara
Thanks for letting me know, I tagged it because the article didn't assert notability and was barely comprehensible, it still needs additions to the the first sentence to even specify that it is a city. I've created articles about small villages before so I have no problem with you removing the tag, a city should probably be notable on its own accord. The Dominator (talk) 04:09, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, always better to have at least one reference to prove that it exists. The Dominator (talk) 04:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh whoops, my bad. I didn't see your edit there otherwise I wouldn't have touched it. Argh, and I thought I was improving... -WarthogDemon 05:40, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I have fixed A LOT of the problems you have addressed, (whew!), and I believe that the article is ready for GA status. Limetolime talk to me • look what I did! 01:50, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
UWAP
If we ever meet in real life i owe you either a jug (or perhaps an afternoons worth of coffee) - I could be more extreme - but hey that is beyond my wildest dreams - thank you for expanding the stub - would you be interested in any other arts that need work? ;) SatuSuro 05:59, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- No worries. Thought I'd do a quick search in Factiva and see if anything came up, and it did, so there goes my lunch break! :) What else do you have that needs work? I already have a bunch of articles I'm working on, but a bit of variety's always good. Somno (talk) 06:07, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
The UWA student guild article is a hagiography of the current instalment of guile and brash youth - I donated my collection of materials ( I have donated an ephemera collection in another uni library that is about 3 metres but thats another story ) to the guild archives about 10 years ago or more - and dont have access to them anymore - but there is surely something around? Maybe the history that is mentioned on the prosh talk page? the history is far more interesting than the current line up SatuSuro 06:15, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'll give it a go. Its list of current reps is annoying me already, and it'd be nice to replace that with something more interesting and useful. Somno (talk) 07:14, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you have difficulty finding anything - I might be near the campus next week - and might try to track down the guild history book SatuSuro 07:56, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
no sign of a history amongst this disreputable bunch of publications: - http://henrietta.liswa.wa.gov.au/search/aUniversity+of+Western+Australia.+Guild+of+Undergra/auniversity+of+western+australia+guild+of+undergraduates/-3,-1,0,B/exact&FF=auniversity+of+western+australia+guild+of+undergraduates&25,36 bah - they never have had a very good sense of their place in the insanity of the crawley campus - even if they are the main provider so to speak SatuSuro 08:02, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know, "Wahoo : The Song Book Of The Century" seems very helpful... ;) Somno (talk) 01:45, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- To think that big carving in what remains of the arts faculty building 'know thyself' - clearly never hit the eyballs or the conciousness of the guild pollies as they rushed out of reid coffee shop (theres another uwa library article was a coi and needs working on) down to the tavern SatuSuro 01:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- If I work on another UWA article, the guilt of the poor neglected ECU article will be overwhelming... next uni article I tackle should probably be that. :) Somno (talk) 02:03, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Answer to sock puppet question from Melanie
For an answer to your question, I do know Sofia. She is a good friend of mine and asked me to post the notice for her. As the notice says, the school year is almost over and she has a huge course load, so she can't get on much anymore. To be polite to everyone on Wikipedia, she asked me to post the message for her and let other Wikipedians know why she couln't reply, wasn't editing anymore, etc. I won't post anything else for her, as I understand this can be confusing and be mistaken for sockpuppetry, but, by the way, was posting that message for her illegal like using sock puppets? It's not like I hacked into her account and started using it as a sock puppet, but I really just want to make sure that I'm not going to get blocked.
Thanks for your conceren,
Melanie Scarlett (talk) 01:49, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Melly
- Thanks for getting back to me. No, certainly not illegal - I just wanted to make sure you knew her and weren't vandalising her userpage. I also didn't mention the term "sockpuppet". :) Somno (talk) 02:03, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Image Question
Hey, Somno, this is Melanie. I have been on Wikipedia for a while (As an anonymous editor with user machine 70.somehting or another; I just got my account recently) and view myself as being pretty knowledgeable, but I have encountered a problem that I have no idea how to fix. I am not adopted, and you seen fairly experienced, so I thought I could drop by and ask you about it. The problem: when I try to upload an image, I recieve this message:
Permission error The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups Autoconfirmed users, Sysops.
I just want to know what does it mean, why can apperently only sysops upload an image, and how can I get it fixed so I can upload my images? My friends say they never had this problem here, so is there something wrong with my account?
If you know the answers to these questions, could you please drop by and leave a message on my talkpage?
Thanks,
Melly —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melanie Scarlett (talk • contribs) 02:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
P.S. Sorry, I guess I misread the message. I thought it was referring to puppets, but it was referring to vandalisim. Just to let you know, though, I'm not a vandal, either. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melanie Scarlett (talk • contribs) 02:17, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I don't think you're a vandal. :) I've answered the image question on your talk page as requested. Somno (talk) 02:22, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :)
Thanks for the answer. I get it now, even if it is kind of irritating because l have been on here for a while, just without an acount. But I do get why Wikipedia does it; I guess it keeps complete newbies from accidentally getting themselves blocked for uploading an image wrong. Whatever. I can just upload it a few days from now. No problem. Also, thanks for your trust that I am not a vandal. That was great.

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 16:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm, SuggestBot sure thinks that I like cars... Somno (talk) 04:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's hilarious. :-D But ForteTuba won't think so; I hope you're going to give him some feedback on this. Hesperian 04:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've left a message. I'd hoped SuggestBot could tell that my edits to car articles (external link removals done right after one another) were bot-like minor article edits, not articles I spent a lot of time improving and therefore might show an interest in. Somno (talk) 05:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, it all makes sense to me now. SuggestBot doesn't use the live database. It uses a recent database dump. In this case it uses a dump in which the most recent 500 of your edits are all car-related. Hesperian 05:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
