This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Elizabeth Ames Jones, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.elizabethamesjones.com/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:39, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The above page has been deleted not only because it is an infringement of copyright (which is illegal) but also because Wikipedia is not to be used for promotion. DJ Clayworth (talk) 21:40, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

You have been blocked for a period of time for repeated additions of copyright material to Wikipedia despite repeated warnings on the subject. DJ Clayworth (talk) 21:48, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I work for Commissioner Jones and have permission to post from her website. How do I get unblocked and solve this problem?

{{helpme}}

Hi

First you have to show that what you say is true (anyone could claim to be working for Commissioner Jones). The easiest way is to put a notice on the website in qurestion releasing the text under the GFDL or puttin git in the public domain. Secondly Wikipedia is not the place to publicise your candidate. Promotion of anyone or anything is strictly forbidden by Wikipedia policy. Are you aware that anyone can edit the Wikipedia entry once you have created it? If your candidate is truly noteworthy then someone else will create an article about her. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. DJ Clayworth (talk) 22:01, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • (ec) Are you aware that by posting it to Wikipedia you will be releasing the text under GFDL? To request unblocking, you can use the unblock template by typing {{unblock|your reason here}}, to post the information you would need to submit an OTRS ticket. –xenocidic (talk) 22:02, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not trying to promote her I just want information about her on this site because many people use it to gather information. I will just reword it and type it up on my own if that will solve the problem. I have no idea how to "release text under the GFDL" on the website. This will apparently be a lot larger project than I thought.

Request reason:

I will not post from the website and will rewrite the information for Wiki

Decline reason:

You don't seem to understand the conflict of interest presented by you creating an article for someone that you work for. I'd suggest you use the remaining time in your block to review the relevant Wikipedia policies on this, which can be found here. –xenocidic (talk) 01:12, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You're right I don't understand. I'm not looking to promote her, I just want to put verifiable, biographical information about her on this site. Where is the conflict? You rules say promotion. I'm not promoting so I don't see the conflict. If all the information is biographical and verifiable then what is the difference between me doing it or someone else?

I left a message with the blocking admin. –xenocidic (talk) 15:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The trouble is that your actions so far have not agreed with your statement "I'm not looking to promote her". The text you added is clearly promotional as well as copyright. The conflict is a conflict of interest - the same reason government officials are not allowed to bid on government contracts that they will award. The chances that there will be no bias at all is very small.
I'm going to unblock you as a sign of good faith. What I recommend is making a draft version of the article you intend to post at user:SomethingSmart/Elizabeth Ames Jones and we will look at it.
Remember that we need references to back up any statements made. Remember that the article should include negative facts as well as positive. The tiniest sign of promotion will get the article banned again. I would also warn you that the Wikipedia community will eventually decide whether this article stays or goes, and that the fact it was written by someone employed by her will could against the article. DJ Clayworth (talk) 16:20, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks for your help

{{helpme}} I was going to start the draft version but the system still says that I am blocked from editing. Does it take a while to unblock? Thanks

You should be unblocked now. Make sure you are not editing a protected page. Also try logging out and logging in again.
Please make sure you sign anything you write on a talk page. You do this by typing four tildes like this ~~~~. They get expanded to you username and date/time. DJ Clayworth (talk) 19:00, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks

{{helpme}} I'm having trouble figuring out to upload a picture Btw, do you want to look at what I have so far on the SomethingSmart/Elizabeth Ames Jones. Thanks
