Los Angeles soccer history edit

Hi there. My name is Steve, I'm a soccer historian who stumbled across the LA soccer history page while researching a piece on American soccer. The reason I have edited so much of it is because, to be frank, the original article is so full of factual errors as to suggest that the person who created the article had a few details about Los Angeles Galaxy and made the rest up. The article as it stood, and has since been reverted to, suggests that Los Angeles have been world soccer champions three times. Forgive me but that is like someone creating an article called American football in Britain and suggesting that the London Monarchs have won three superbowls. As I said in the discussion page before making any changes to that article. I'm sure the original creator was well meaning but ill informed of soccer and has taken exhibition/friendly matches to be bonafide sanctioned tournaments. I would ask you to compare the original article with my correction and then check the RSSSF website. this is the most respected soccer history site on the internet and the corrections I have made have been checked against it. Alternatively if you would prefer that the page stays laughably wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.22.20 (talk) 20:14, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Czech edit

I hope you don't mind that I closed the deletion discussion for Czech (disambiguation). Your assumption that unused redirects should be deleted is a common (and natural) one, it comes up at RfD quite often. And thank you very much for disambiguating all those links to Czech! I also do disambiguation link repair sometimes, and appreciate your help. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 00:58, 22 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question on Absinthe edit edit

In regards to Absinthe edit: I'm not certain how to contact you, but if this is it, great. I do not believe the link I added is advertising, and whether it be observed as such it is most certainly helpful in that it provides users who are looking for information on Absinthe to see examples of how it is represented in fashion. An external link that is commercial in nature certainly does not automatically include it as a detractor of information.

A link to a site that only seeks to sell a product is generally considered commercial in nature. If the link sought to explain how Absinthe has influenced fashion, it would be quite different. SkerHawx 23:46, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree with SkerHawx. Especially since the 'fashion' was just a t-shirt with "absinthe" on it. -- Ari 23:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
If one is seeking to locate examples of how Absinthe is represented in pop-culture, must they proceed to an external site that provides this information or can it not be provided on Wiki? Absinthe, specifically, has become a pop-culture phenomenon as of late and examples of its widespread glorification should most certainly include commercial examples of how it is represented. Perhaps there should be a "commercial" section if it is not to be included in the external links. Although I realize it is necessary to remove spam and abuse to keep wikipedia informative, well organized resources (including commercial links) are most certainly helpful to anyone seeking information on any particular subject.
No, but you're welcome to add a section in the article Absinthe that describes these phenomena and is supported by proper citation and is not spam SkerHawx 23:58, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Korean War edit

I reverted your changes back to simply "ceasefire" since that indicates the countries are still at war, with a temporary stop in hostilities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SkerHawx (talkcontribs)

Template for notifying users edit

In reply to your question on my talk page, I think the template you're talking about is {{nn-warn}}, which is about warning users about a page they have created about a subject that is not notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. Or perhaps you were looking for {{drmspeedy}} (which sounds more like what you described, although I don't recall using that one recently). A list of helpful templates for your use to put on other users' talk pages can be found at Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace. Hope this helps! —Brim 21:02, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stockholm Syndrome edit

You recently sent me a message saying I removed information from the Stockholm Syndrome page. After checking back on the page's history, I realised that this wasn't the case. Therefore, I feel you owe me an apology for indirectly labelling me as a vandal. I did not remove any information from the page, but simply added to it, by stating that Stockholm Syndrome is also a song written by British band Milburn, as well as the other bands stated, such as Muse. Being from the USA, I understand that you probably choose not to concern yourself with the affairs and, in this case, the popular music of other countries of the world. But the information I contributed is true, and I did not remove any information from the page, so I suggest you recognise your error, and go back on ur accusation against me. Thank you.

Vandalism edit

Why was that edit on Orpah vandalism? Isn't categories supposed to be at the bottom? And you can't say "Oprah was name", it should be "Oprah was named". Thank you very much for the barnstar. But, wait, you almost didn't give it to me because I'm a Steelers fan? :(. And gosh, as I'm writing this, we're losing to the Raiders, and about to go 2-5. Well, if the Steelers don't make the playoffs, and Seattle does, at least Pittsburgh can say they (handily) beat Kansas City :P. please explain edit

"Words and images that might be considered offensive, profane, or obscene by other Wikipedia readers should be used if and only if their omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternatives are available."

Those are the wiki guidlines regarding profane language. Are you telling me if that user page did not contain that profanity it would be less informative and not make the required point? HaHa

Understood, but do you agree on my intepretation of the wiki profanity rules?

List of songs about suicide edit

It wasn't just vandalism. The addition of Lthium is unsourced and contradicts the song's article. An IP you warned made another insertion into article same day but prior to your warning. edit

Hello, I was doing a random article read/check and came across an article called D-sosa and noticed that an IP you warned, User talk:68.160.36.67, inserted a statement into the article. wp:inherit new? edit

Hi, SkerHawx. I was on a long Wiki Break. It always seemed to follow that the group members and connections like that conferred notability. I recall a particularly strongly written AfD close in which the admin Kept and took us (we all !voted delete) to task for not seeing the notability in something connected with Stanford.

This must be something that came about while I was away. It's refreshing to see the change. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 22:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
