Hello, Shaobaqian, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Secondary sources please

edit

Hi there. @Karbokation:, New editors are encourage to make incremental edits, consult others via Talk pages, and rely on secondary sources per our guideline WP:SECONDARY. It also might be a good idea to communicate this advice to your instructor. For example, on the topic "supramolecular polymers", Chemical abstracts lists 689 citations. Wikipedia does not pretent to report on all of these. So Wikipedia relies on books and reviews to cover this material. By doing so, we avoid selecting articles from our favorite journals, which can appear parochial (even if not intended) and we avoid WP:NOTNEWS. Spread the word! Again, present your plans at the Talk page that you intend to revise, announcing your intentions. --Smokefoot (talk) 06:04, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
