Hey guys

I thought it would be really useful if everyone could post on here what they are editing on the Brokeback Mountain page. Just so we can keep better track of everything.

I'm focusing on fixing dead links and bad source material throughout the page Sgarane (talk) 15:10, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm focusing on the 'Controversies' section, including the organisation of the various sections within that and their headings. I will also look at the quality of the citations and the referenced material. lukejamieson95 (talk) 16:14, 4 February 2016.

I'm looking at the Influence section, which includes organising and verifying the existing material and changing the current list format. I am also planning on including more information on the long term impact of the film. Laramubaydeen (talk) 16:26, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

The second heading in the ‘controversies’ section reads ‘Conservative media’. This is a very general section that refers to several reporters. They are glossed over as accusing the film of pushing a ‘gay agenda’, but are not actually quoted or given a citation. lukejamieson95 (talk) 16:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

It would be appropriate to change the ‘conservative media’ heading to ‘U.S. conservative media’, as it refers exclusively to commentators from the U.S. This would be consistent with the 'U.S. social conservatives section'. lukejamieson95 (talk) 16:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Found a sight and sound article on the film that hasn't been used on the BBM page (at least I don't think it has been)I'm going to add it later. http://old.bfi.org.uk/sightandsound/feature/49251

There are typos in the ‘criticism of marketing’ section. I also think this section would benefit from a more specific heading. And instead of ‘Some commentators have suggested…’ refer explicitly to the New York Daily News, which is referenced. lukejamieson95 (talk) 16:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

The ‘conservative media’ section contains two paragraphs. The first refers to commentators who claimed that the film pushed a gay agenda and the second refers to John Gibson for mocking Heath Ledger moments after the news of his death. It seems like these incidences should be separate, as there is a long period of time between them and their only link is that the reporters both work for Fox news. lukejamieson95 (talk) 16:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi guys, someone from wiki gave me the idea of adding information about brokeback mountain's legacy seeing as it was released 10+ years ago. It would be good to research the film, the actors and the emergence of queer cinema in mainstream cinema (maybe because of the film's success?) but we can talk more about this when we meet on Thursday but do gather more material in the meantime! Sgarane (talk) 03:16, 9 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Found a sight and sound article I don't believe has been used on the Brokeback Mountain page. I'm going to add it later. http://old.bfi.org.uk/sightandsound/feature/49251 What do you guys think? Any good? Sgarane (talk) 14:42, 9 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
