Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy and Adoption

edit

Hi Sephiroth87, firstly welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for contributing to the encyclopedia.

I've left you a message at the CVUA Enroll page. Generally the Academy takes editors who are a little more experienced (generally more that 100 edits). However I am willing to offer you an alternative. If it's okay with you I would be very happy to adopt you and teach you about Wikipedia generally. Then we can work on counter vandalism a little later. How does this sound to you? Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 13:14, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Callanecc thank you for your offer, I accept. I spent a bit this morning patrolling and finding some vandalism just to familiarise myself with the process. I submitted a couple pages for protection that were getting hammered pretty badly. I'm very interested in getting some formal training on this, so that I can earn the privileges and trust needed to take a more active stance in ensuring the stability and security of Wikipedia Project. For reference, I am currently a Level II Security Administrator at HostGator dealing with Linux and Windows (plus website security). I'm not much into research or article creation, but stability, security, and safe browsing and research environments are my thing. Btw, my time zone is USA/Central (GMT-0500 ((yes, DST))) -- Sephiroth87 14:38, 18/Jul/2012 (UTC)

You will be my first adopted user so I may take some time suggesting things for you to do. My time zone is Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+1000) so we probably won't be online at the same time frequently, but that's ok. My interests are primarily in article and Wikipedia maintanence (as opposed to creation, but I have created a few articles) and mainly counter vandalism.
But I have a few tasks for you to start with:
  1. The first and most general question...what do you want to learn?
  2. Have a look at and read through Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area and Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Resources.
  3. Make sure you sign comments on talk pages (that is pages which have "talk" in the title) with four tildes (~~~~).
  4. Have a look through WP:INDENT, it explains the custom of indenting replies so threads are easier to follow.
  5. FOR NOW - stop using Twinkle. You need to get some experience doing this manually before you move onto semi/automated tools.
Primarily I am here for you if you have any questions or run into any problems feel free (and encouraged) to ask them on my talk page in this section. At the top of my userpage & talk page I have a user online template and I don't usually forget to update it, so that will let you know if I'm around or not.

That's all I can think of for now, any questions or comments? Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 15:04, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Anupmehra. An edit that you recently made to Torres (musician) seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. See, Wikipedia manual of style and What Wikipedia is not. If her website writes her name in capital, Wikipedia wont follow the same. Wikipedia has its own policy and guidelines. Discuss on the article's talk page for more queries. Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
