Sourcing on Native identity, descendants, and self-identification edit

Hi, it looks like you're going through and changing a lot of categories and statuses on a bunch of articles without introducing any new sourcing. If you want your edits to stand on Wikipedia, they have to be sourced to WP:RS standards. I appreciate that you want to help, but may I ask why you are changing the information without any new citations being added? Do you consider pop culture, and other sources by nons, and self-identification alone, reliable for indicating whether someone is Native? - CorbieV 23:58, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you discuss this instead of just reverting. - CorbieV 00:36, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm following in with the discussion which either the categories are going to be merged or the articles are to be moved back to American people of Native American descent. Since there were more votes in favor of the merge or moving the articles back. From what I saw articles were already being removed from the self-identify category because Iron Eyes is literally the only one that belongs there. I consider an RS an RS as Wikipedia standard whether it's the New York Times, biographies, Indian Country Today, interviews, etc. I have no interest in picking a standard over what's a "better source" based on opinion. I have no interest in speculative editors nor ideology to control who is considered a descendant or not based on personal opinion which seems to be the issue.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 00:45, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Seminolegirl94, we should follow our reliable sourcing policy in this case, and many of these articles already have appropriate sourcing. I would also point out that the entire Native American descent category was moved to self-identified Native American descent without any apparent verification or sourcing changes and most of the current edits are simply correcting that error.
It's unreasonable to expect tribal verification for individuals who may be removed by several generations, just as a European government wouldn't be expected to have records of descendants whose families have been in the US for several generations. –dlthewave 03:47, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
False equivalence. Tribes are here in the same country, speak English, and still have the records of the ancestors that one cites for documented ancestry, along with the living cousins one would still be related to if the claim is true. Real descendants know this. Real descendants know the names of ancestors and cousins. The consensus of real Natives and real descendants, and all the writings from these communities is clear, is cited in the articles on these matters, and overrides any Wikipedians' opinions on the matter. Best, - CorbieV 20:09, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Allow me to knock you off your high horse Corbie. Some of those "real descendants" include slaves so how do you propose we treat them? Especially when they weren't properly documented and hell we don't even know how many of our own people were enslaved. Also you're behaving like everything was proper documented and that you can trace everyone. White people have the best records not us things like the Dawes Rolls are an embarrassment b/c they had a lot of problems. We know everyone wasn't documented so you can drop that flag. You seem to have a pride complex I've really only that in Cherokee (given they're the most documented though that isn't perfect either), Navajo, or Lakota. So which are you since you're so keen on trying to enforce tribal politics. I haven't seen that on anywhere on Wikipedia policy where heritage requires special citation and yes I know damn well what legal definition or whateva fancy word you choose is of being native. Again everyone wasn't documented you had people that were kidnapped, orphaned, enslaved etc. so why even try to pull that bs card. Seminolegirl94 (talk) 20:40, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you're talking about Iron Eyes Cody, I think you're the only one who brought him up. If you have been following the discussion you know that's not who the "self-identified" cat is for. You also know I'd just rather leave self-identified / blood myth people out of all the cats entirely. And you know that it was nons who were arguing that Native identity is racial, as opposed to how Natives define it. We have been over this so many times before. Do you really want to do this again? - CorbieV 00:49, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't remember you joining in the conversation or directly talking to me. Yes there are the hot messes that have the blood myths and then there's the other category those that have the bloodline but for whatever reason are not culturally connected. That doesn't dismiss who there ancestors were. Also that one category was about "heritage" not tribal identity. Identity is based on citizenship which in my opinion is kind of trash when many can't even name their damn clan so that's a hypocritical stance to me. When u have people (obviously u have some blood by the way u write) our people who go the shot end of the stick and carry our ancestors blood but don't get acknowledged. That's why I can't stand returning to OK sometimes cause I have see these five dollar Indians with blue eyes walk around but when I return home. I see brothers and sisters that can't claim nothing. There's my opinion since that's what it seems like you're looking for.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 01:00, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'd suggest we put this in order, and follow WP:TALK conventions. But you know that I know about the Freedmen, et al. I'm not going to repeat myself. - CorbieV 21:05, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Oh I'm sorry did that come off as rude. I have to work on that. Btw I'm sure you do know about the Freedmen I'm sure you know I do since it's quite obvious which tribe I come from. Also I wasn't talking about those slaves I was talking about the other mixed bloods that didn't go to Oklahoma. Either way I find your ideology of sources interesting.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 23:45, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding American to indigenous articles edit

Hi Seminolegirl94. Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for all of the work you have been doing. I noticed that on the Wilma Mankiller article and a couple of others you have added in American. I just check half a dozen random bio articles of Native Peoples and this is simply not the format we have followed. It's not necessary and looks sloppy. It's also important to affirm sovereignty. Indigenous girl (talk) 01:04, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please seem Wilma's talk page. Nice to meet you.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 01:07, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
I am also removing "American" as redundant. If someone is Native American they are already an American citizen, so we don't need to state it again. (And similarly, "Canadian" with First Nations.) - CorbieV 20:04, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

More reversions to restore uncited and inaccurate content edit

Why are you revert-warring to restore uncited content?[1] A "Heron" Native American? The interview is not RS for anything but self-id, and the entry listing only mentions a grandfather from a nonexistent tribe. - CorbieV 20:02, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

So what's this war thing. Also why are you reverting when that cat is going to be merged any way.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 20:38, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well then, you might find these policies helpful: WP:EDITWAR, WP:BATTLE, and WP:CIVIL, though I can see that these core policies and principles have been included in links people have posted for you before. Maybe you forgot to read them. Please note that Civility is a core policy here on the 'pedia, and telling other editors that you are going to "knock you off your high horse" could be considered a violation of WP:CIVIL. You've been here for a while and I think you know this. Is there anything you would like to disclose about this account? Also, there is no consensus on the category, so you are premature in assuming what may happen with it. - CorbieV 18:48, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

The category was kept:Permalink to close. And was announced in a discussion you participated in:Permalink to discussion. Stop reverting other editors, especially with edit summaries that misrepresent consensus:(category will be merged due to vote). - CorbieV 20:40, 14 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Those that opposed were outvoted if it was reversed I would leave it alone. I'm sorry if it appeared that I was spreading something I won't say merge again to make you happy. Have a good day.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 20:44, 14 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

It's never been about anyone's personal happiness, or other feelings. It's about policy. However, you've been asked multiple times to abide by WP:CIVIL, as well as several other core policies, and refused to do so. It's not fair to other editors, and it tends to cause an unpleasant working environment when you repeatedly ignore policy and insult other editors. Multiple policies are at issue here, as I've raised above. You've been told this before, so this is clearly a case of selective hearing - CorbieV 20:56, 14 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was actually being serious and not sarcastic about saying merge sorry if that came off the wrong way. Have a great daySeminolegirl94 (talk) 21:01, 14 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

August 2019 edit

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Gary Dourdan, Fergie, and Vivica A. Fox. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - CorbieV 20:12, 28 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Aho If I missed a few people trying to fix a problem I do apologize but please don't threaten me. What you wrote in the description makes me feel threatened I already apologized for coming off as rude, but please don't threaten me at also violates policy im off to class. Have a good daySeminolegirl94 (talk) 14:48, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi I decided to respond to this after we both got text messages from a cousin of ours that does edit on Wikipedia asking if we had been using Wikipedia or had mad an account because now he can't edit because the same internet isn't supposed to be used. We lied and said no. We didn't know that people couldn't use the same internet and we don't want our cousin mad at us. Is there a way that we can be excused from this accident we didn't know that the same internet couldn't be used. Also we just don't want our cousin mad at us we've watched him do this stuff for some time, and it means a lot to him. Again sorry for the mistake we promise not to use the same internet if that's the problem we can use it at another family's home or give this up if it means that our cousin can do this stuff because he likes it. I only did a few small edits on a few women's pages to help and I find them interesting. I know my sister did a few things too. Again we didn't mean to cause any problems or knew this would be a problem.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 23:33, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

There's a substantial overlap in your edits, far more so than would be possible if Mcelite's statements were true. As you have admitted WP:MEAT and as you aren't actually asking to be unblocked, I'm declining the unblock request. Mcelite is free to address the sockpuppetry on their talk page. Yamla (talk) 11:09, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Note to other admins: Unblock request by sockmaster already denied twice at Mcelite talk page per overwhelming checkuser data, obvious SPI evidence, and WP:LITTLEBROTHER. MC, you were given plenty of opportunities to come clean about this, and instead you lashed out at everyone who tried to help you. It's just sad that this is what it's come to, but you're done here. - CorbieV 01:51, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi I am mcelite cousin I am not a sockpuppet we are not mcelite. My sister and I did use the same internet as our cousin and we didn't know that this was a problem. My sister did all of the conversations on this talk page and I am apologizing for her to the user CorbieVreccan she was rude. Again we are sorry we didn't know using the same internet was serious We are asking for a solution we don't want our cousin to know that we did this.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 02:17, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Why don't you give us a few more details? Does Mcelite live in a house or an apartment? Do you live with Mcelite? If not, where do you live? Do you use Mcelite's computer? Does your sister have an account? If so, what is it? Does she live with you? With Mcelite? If not, where does she live? Whose computer does your sister use?--Bbb23 (talk) 02:25, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Our cousin lives in a house we all live there and sometimes we stay at our grandmother's. We have another computer in the house that we use and I've never used my cousin's laptop because it's new. Yes my sister does live with me and we use the same computer. We have two computers in our house and I have used both of the computers on Wikipedia. I don't know for sure if my sister has used both but she has used the one I am on now. She told me about the block I haven't edited anything on Wikipedia since June or July I'm not sure. I'm not sure how often my sister has been on here for Wikipedia.Seminolegirl94 (talk) 02:32, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

That is a most elaborate and implausible tale. I have revoked Talk page access.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:58, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
