Orphaned non-free image File:Cyberdefender logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cyberdefender logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:22, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

List of disruptive technologies

edit

There's nothing wrong with a page like this in theory, but by labeling things as "disruptive" and not explaining why they are inarguably so you open the way for others to delete entries, and even the whole page. I just want to make sure you know that so that you don't end up spending a lot of time on nothing. Soap 00:51, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure this isn't another case of a third party site copying us, instead of us copying them? Soap 01:19, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is, yes, but unfortunately it's still a copyright problem. Seidos wrote when he created the article, "Basically retyped the information from Biochemistry by Garrett and Grisham", and this is evidently true. The book is viewable here. The article includes such content as:

These proteins reduce the half-time for phospholipid movement across a membrane from days to a few minutes or less. Approximately one ATP is consumed per lipid transported by floppases. Energy dependent lipid flippase activity is essential for the creation and maintenance of transverse lipid asymmetries. A number of diseases have been linked to defects in floppases.

The copying doesn't stop there. The article must be rewritten from scratch. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:42, 8 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Thesatirewire

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Thesatirewire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ZZArch talk to me 05:22, 27 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
