Draft of my first Article.

edit

here is a draft of my first article. Could you please check it for me.Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by SeeEarth (talkcontribs) 15:13, 31 July 2007

I have moved the draft to User:SeeEarth/Lilly Arbor Project. That way we we can keep the history of this draft separate from other, future, drafts. POlease remember to sign your comments on talk pages, like this one, with four tildes (~~~~) Thank you. DES (talk) 22:01, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have made some formatting changes and added a refrence. have a look. also see the page's own discussion page at User talk:SeeEarth/Lilly Arbor Project. DES (talk) 22:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

great! the page looks really good. thank you. Can I go ahead and submit the article now? Also, I dint intend to use the reference from the "find article" website. But adding it makes the page look good. I wanted to know how you approached it? I mean, did u browse for the article to add it ?

2) If i want to submit the LillyArbor page, How do i submit it exactly the way it looks on the usertalk page with the respective formating and references?

Once again Thank you very much.

I did a google search to find additional references. It is always useful, and sometimes essential, to include references other than a project's own website -- if possible references that are independent. in this case, the refs are not strictly independent, but having been reported in academic settings, they gain a measure of reliability. If you know of any news stories about the project, even local news, citations to them should probably be added to the project article -- this helps with credibility and notability.
We will put the new article into article space my moving (also called renaming). This preserves the history of edits to date. See WP:MOVE for more details. in this case, your account is still to new for the move function to be active, so i will do the move -- next time you can do it. The article is now at Lilly Arbor Project. DES (talk) 17:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have a question about adding this "Lilly Arbor Project" wiki page to google earth. Can you help me with this? (SeeEarth 18:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC))Reply

Actually, CEES is Center of Earth and Environmental Science (not scientists). Can I just go ahead and make the change on Lilly Arbor Project page? (SeeEarth 19:39, 1 August 2007 (UTC))Reply

Crooked Creek Project

edit

<Draft copied>

I am trying to create the user page User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project similar to the one you did for lilly arbor. How do i make it? (SeeEarth 19:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC))Reply

Simply type User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project into the "search" box on the left of the page, and click "Go". When you get the page that says "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name. Before creating this page, please see Wikipedia:Subpages." click on the line that says "Start the User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project page " DES (talk) 19:48, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Or see the instructions at Wikipedia:Subpages DES (talk) 19:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I created this page, Could you please move this crooked creek draft to the new page User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project. We can discuss it there. I shall create the pages and drafts henceforth on the resp pages and send you the links. SeeEarth 20:05, 1 August 2007 (UTC) Also, is there any particular link where i can view the list of User pages creadted by SeeEarth? Thank you SeeEarth 20:11, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Draft copied to User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project Whole pages can be moveed, but there isn't any effctive way to move only part of a page and preserved the history. In this case, there was only one edit, so it deosn't really matter. DES (talk) 20:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
See User talk:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project for comments. DES (talk) 20:26, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

useful index of pages

edit

Here is a useful and comprehensive index to pages on wikipedia that expalin or document policies, practices, and procedures. User:John Broughton/Editor's Index to Wikipedia It is quite long, don't truy to read all through it. But it is a useful refernce in which to look up a subject. News coverage

edit

If there has been any newspaper or magazine coverage of either project, even if it is in a purely local paper, it will help. If we have name of paper; title of artilce; date published, and if posisble page number, we can cite a printed story that is not online using {{cite news}}. user pages

edit

I have a question which i am not clear on. Q) Is there any particular place where i can view the list of User pages that i am creating now such as:

User:SeeEarth/Crooked Creek Project User:SeeEarth/Goose Pond Project , etc

SeeEarth 22:23, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixindex&from=SeeEarth&namespace=2 The simple way to get there is to click special pages in the toolbox on the left of any page, select "all pages with prefix", and then fill in the prefix as "SeeEarth" and the namespace as "User".
