Norwich City edit

Hi. Thanks for your contributions. Please do try to avoid WP:POV in your postings - this is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Thanks. --Dweller 09:25, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Luke Chadwick edit

Why have you removed his name from the Norwich City F.C. squad list? He's still officially on loan at the club, even if injured. --Dweller 13:03, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

your edit Julio Baptista edit

please read the infobox carefully, appearances and goals in non domestic league games do not count. Chensiyuan 02:36, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

NCFC userbox edit

Btw, I edited the template recently. You might want to update your version. --Dweller 11:00, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

NCFC drive for WP:FA edit

Welcome to the quest! Glad to have you. Take a look at the almost-ready Ipswich Town F.C. to see where we're headed. --Dweller 14:45, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

England U21s edit

Hi. Please be careful to change the dates when you update a section, as an incorrect date compromises integrity. Sadly it's a little late (no final to play for!), but you should also have added the subs' appearances to the Euro 2007 squad. Anyway, there was otherwise nothing wrong with the edits you made, so keep at it! Laters!  slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 20:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Norwich City squad numbers edit

Hi. The squad numbers of 1 for Gilks, 2 for Ostesmobor and 8 for Cureton aren't their confirmed Norwich numbers. The official squad list on the NCFC website gives the numbers from their previous clubs. We should wait till the new numbers are announced. Mattythewhite 16:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm unsure. Keep an eye out on the Norwich official site, and have a look at this site - very useful for new squads. Mattythewhite 18:55, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userboxes and fair use images edit

I've noticed that you have created userboxes using the form User:Youtube (as an example. This is not appropriate. User:xxxxx are userpages belonging to existing users or users who may exist in the future. I've moved User:Youtube to User:Screech123/Youtube and User:Pink Ipod to User:Screech123/Pink Ipod.

Also, you re-inserted an image into User:Screech123/Youtube against policy. The image Image:Youtube logo plus tagline.png is a copyrighted, fair use image and may not be used on userboxes or on userspace per our policy at WP:NFCC item #9. I've removed the image again. Please do not re-add it.

If you have questions about either of these topics, feel free to ask. Thanks, --Durin 13:10, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Captains edit

I replied to you at Talk:Norwich_City_F.C.#Captains. Nice idea. --Dweller 09:26, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Captain edit

You got a source for this ([1])? Captaincy in one friendly match doesn't of itself make him the club captain. --Dweller 16:26, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Well, I've not done many, but the way I do it is to add [[Category:WhateverIwanttocallit]] at the bottom of an appropriate article, then clicking on that cat and editing it and saving it. I always find an existing similar category so that I can copy formatting etc. I think there's also a WikiProject that is worth consulting, before you do this. they're at Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories. It's not tremendously active (no posts since mid July) but you can always post directly to the talk page of one of the more regular contributors. Any help? --Dweller 13:13, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

An idea. You could bold the names of current players, as done at the Barry Butler winners' page. Does the club website have a list of captains? --Dweller 10:14, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
no it does, im been putting in on google previous norwich city captains but it comes up with nothing

O captain my captain edit

Please see Talk:Captains of Norwich City F.C. --Dweller 12:49, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Captains edit

Done. See also Category:Norwich City F.C.... for consistency, the cat and the list article should both begin with the club name, imho. PS Your signature is horrible! --Dweller 11:48, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Norwich City player of the year edit

Just to let you know that I'm working extensively on this article, with a view to getting it to Featured List status. Come and join in! --Dweller 12:01, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

See WP:FL. I am improving the article to get it good enough to be "Featured". You're welcome to help out! --Dweller 21:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your work at Norwich City F.C. edit

Thanks for your efforts... as the main article is a Featured Article, it's been decided by the community that prose is better for these sort of sections. However, you've prompted me to create List of Norwich City F.C. club records which is nicely under way. Cheers. --Dweller 14:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gawd, I know that feeling. Sorry :-(. Neither I nor The Rambling Man made up the rules. I do think on balance that a table looks better in a list article and prose looks better in a "proper" article. --Dweller 11:07, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Articles for Deletion edit

Hi! You nominated Y Ffyrc for deletion but then didn't complete the process. Therefore it cannot be deleted. If you still want to delete Y Ffyrc, you need to also follow steps II and III on this page. You may need to re-add {{subst:afd1}} to the article itself as these "orphan" AfD notices are usually removed. Thanks. ➔ REDVEЯS would like to show you some puppies 20:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seasons edit

Please will you point me to a good example? Cheers. --Dweller (talk) 11:01, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

A good example of a seasons article about another club! --Dweller (talk) 11:08, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I looked at Arsenal F.C. season 2007-08. Looks a nightmare to keep updated and isn't really very encyclopedic. For the current season there's plenty of good sources out there. Our value is really in handling historical or in-depth material. If you fancy doing it though, go ahead. I guess it'd be at Norwich City F.C. season 2007-08. Try to avoid POV and fanzine editorialising. --Dweller (talk) 11:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you fancy it, go for it. But I can't help thinking your efforts would be better placed elsewhere ;-) There's no shortage of work to be done to get things sorted. Btw, if you (and some of your mates) dropped the club an email begging them to put a list of all the Hall of Fame members on the official website, that'd be great. They've done about half so far. I nagged and nagged and eventually they did the players of the year, which led almost instantly to this Featured List, but they're really dragging their feet with the HOF members and I can't get it featured till I have a reliable source. --Dweller (talk) 11:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I made a couple of tweaks, but really it's going to be a huge drain on time and I'm not keen to get involved. Suggestion - see if the current squad and league table etc is somewhere that you can transclude without having to constantly cut and paste. --Dweller (talk) 12:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I tried to explain above that I don't think it's a good thing for Wikipedia to be doing, when it's so well done elsewhere. It's just a bit fansitey for me. Obviously, I want to put my online time into things that I think are worthwhile! Transcluding - well, for example, the NCFC squad template sits in one place and is then transcluded onto the pages where it's needed, rather than recreated everywhere. You can do this with anything on Wikipedia, as I'll demonstrate below (feel free to revert me when you've seen this!) --Dweller (talk) 12:20, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

By typing {{User:Screech123}}, I transcluded your userpage onto this page. It means you only need to update one page and everywhere it's transcluded is updated too. So you can transclude, say, a subsection of the main NCFC article in your seasons article and it will remain updated as the main article is changed. Just put the specific subsection link in curly brackets. --Dweller (talk) 13:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Not sure what you want help with, but I know next to nothing about html. Where did you lift the league table, current squad etc from? Replace what you've put in the article with the wikilink to those article/sections in curly brackets like I showed you above, to keep it updated. --Dweller (talk) 10:46, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Still not sure what you want help with and I still see this as something of a very low priority. I want to make NCFC a featured topic (like Ipsh!t just became) and this wouldn't be part of a list of core NCFC articles. --Dweller (talk) 12:00, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heck, I'm not about to speedy it (!) but I just can't find the time to create and maintain it, when my to-do list is so very long already. If you need any specific help with a problem, I'll try my best, but I'll not be wading in, I'm afraid. --Dweller (talk) 12:08, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Erm... a list of things to do! --Dweller (talk) 12:20, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Major stuff's listed in sections 4 and 5 of User:Dweller/Featured --Dweller (talk) 15:19, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

No content in Category:Wikipedians who use Laptops edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedians who use Laptops, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Wikipedians who use Laptops has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Wikipedians who use Laptops, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. RoI results coding edit

I had intended to put an edit note on that revert. The colour coding had no key, and was entirely un-neccessary. We all understand the letters W D and L. Sorry for the apparent, and unintended, edit without a reason. Kevin McE (talk) 19:50, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

<sigh> It's not just that I don't want to (and up to my eyeballs in stuff I want to do), it's that I'm unconvinced that they serve a good use on Wikipedia. Is there anything specific you'd like me to help with? --Dweller (talk) 09:53, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not that I know of. That's a shame, but the information is easily accessible on other sites and, I think, is copyright to the Football League. Anyway, see my talk page message box. --Dweller (talk) 11:08, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Norwich City Logo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Norwich City Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 14:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of Norwich City F.C. captains edit

The article List of Norwich City F.C. captains has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Mostly unsourced, no other List of club captains exists

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
