Wikipedia is not for self-promotion

Please do not write an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged - see our guideline Writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. I am sorry to have been so long giving the advice I promised. I am afraid that making a Wikipedia article is more difficult than one might think

• First, read WP:Autobiography for the reasons why writing about oneself, though not forbidden, is strongly discouraged.
• Then, read User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard, which I wrote because I have this conversation rather often.
• Then consider whether you can demonstrate Notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people independent of the subject thought it important enough to write substantial comment about? Unless you can meet this requirement, your article is not likely to survive.

If you now want to proceed:

• Read WP:Your first article
• Make a draft article in your user space - see Help:Userspace draft for how to do that. Take great care not to make it promotional. Avoid "peacock terms". Remember the WP:Verifiability policy: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." When you are about to write a glowing adjective, or any claim, imagine a hostile critic saying "Who says so? Can you prove that?" Do not think of yourself as writing for yourself - you should be writing from outside a neutral description, plain facts backed up by reliable sources. That is about as far as it is possible to get from your first version.
• Submit it at WP:Articles for creation, declaring your interest, where either it will be accepted or you will be told why not.
