Red oak software

A tag has been placed on Red oak software, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. Please ignore the message immediately above - what you did looked like the sort of vandalism we all too often get, and another user treated it like that; but I take it that you meant to withdraw your entry, realising that it was inappropriate. The page has been set back to what it was before your entry; if you want it deleted you can replace it with {{db-author}} (two curly brackets each side) which means "author requests deletion"; or you can just leave it, and it will get deleted soon anyway. I feel I should apologise to you for the fact that Wikipedia is good at encouraging everyone to contribute, but less good at explaining that it has standards for what is acceptable. Hi Jameson, Red Oak is listed along with other commercial solutions on this page... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_application_integration#Commercial_solutions

Many of those commercial solutions have profiles on wikipedia. I tried to follow their format and had intended to add historical information about the company in a separate section of the page. Is this not allowed? Why do others with similar pages exist? Yesterday I had cut-n-paste from their "about us page" on their website. It was my first post so I didn't realize that wouldn't be good. That article was marked for deletion because of how it was written. I tried to follow the rules and re-write as explained. Please help. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Your question as to Red Oak Software

I saw that you posed a question on the talk page of the deleted article. I'm sorry that this has probably been a frustrating experience for you. Please understand that because Wikipedia is open for anyone to edit, we get lots of content added to promote companies or products. As such, these types of articles usually attract a fair bit of scrutiny to make sure that the company meets our inclusion standards. The guideline on business is here. The basic idea is that a company is usually notable enough if it has received coverage or analysis in reliable third party sources - news media, business magazines, business websites etc. If you can include something about that kind of coverage in the article, then it should be safe.
