Proposed deletion of Dennis Baron

edit

The article Dennis Baron has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article doesn't meet WP:PROF

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. New Article

edit

Forgive me if I'm doing this wrong, but your argument for deletion of my article in seems unfounded. If the problem is in the way it is formatted, than it would have been kinder and more helpful for you to suggest editing methods to make it conform with standards. If you have a problem with the person the page is about, then you have obviously not looked at any of the links or references, as this professor is a highly regarded linguist who has published many books and has been interviewed by many sources. Please explain your reasoning and try to be nicer to newbies instead of attacking them. -Saturnalia9

AfD Procedure

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Dennis Baron. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you.--Arxiloxos (talk) 00:03, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Another welcome

edit

Though I see you've had the account here for a while, here's another welcome. Thank you for creating the article. It is a certainty that it will survive the AfD, as he is clearly notable. The only deletion process which one should really worry about facing is speedy deletion, and then one should put a {{hangon}} tag on the article. It's usually wiser to wait if your article is prodded, as there are 7 days and someone else would see and remove the tag on an article like Dennis Baron, and it would probably not go to AfD afterward. In AfD and some other debates here, it is often better to use <s></s> to strike out your old, changed comments instead of removing them. Regards,John Z (talk) 07:32, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

-Thanks for the advice and the welcome! I see that I have a few things to learn about creating articles and the like ;)
