Robert Douglas Aitken moved to draftspace

Hi! I saw that your article was moved to the draftspace and as such, wanted to leave you some additional notes:

• This needs a lead section. This would be a general summary of the article, so a possible lead could look like this:

Robert Douglas Aitken (born 1900, died 1974) was a medical missionary, botanist, and founder of The Donald Fraser Hospital in South Africa.

It's short, but to the point.

• This needs some editing for punctuation and grammar, as some of the sentences feel a little abrupt and some seem to be incomplete sentences.

• The article contains some point of view statements such as "innovative", which are written in Wikipedia's voice. By this I mean that they're written along the lines of "Aitken is innovative" as opposed to "Scholars have stated that Aitken's X and Y were innovative in that they...". It's important to avoid point of view, judgement, and opinion statements unless we're clearly attributing them to someone, as terms like this are going to be subjective to the reader. For example, one person may see Aitken as innovative while another person may argue otherwise if it's written as if it's a fact - whereas they can't argue that a specific person had a given viewpoint.

• This definitely needs independent and reliable sources to establish notability - keep in mind that notability can't be established on Wikipedia without them.

• Avoid euphemisms like "passed away" since those may be unclear to people who are unfamiliar with the term and/or may be ESL speakers unfamiliar with the term. It's more precise to state that someone died. No worries about not knowing this one - it's one I wasn't aware of until someone told me this as well.

• The legacy section should only contain things like awards, buildings, or programs being named after them. In other words, the legacy has to be something tangible so to speak in order to have a legacy section.

• In the article you state that Aitken was born on Saint Helena Island, but don't specify which Island. If possible, specify the state or country as there looks to be about five islands by this name. It looks like this isn't super easy to find out but if you can find this out in the sourcing, that would be awesome.

I'm going to cut this off here as far as notes go - I've done some editing to the page, notably to the early life section. I've split this off to make it an early life and education section, then placed the personal life into its own section. I've also removed the legacy section and placed the date of death in the personal life section - I've also added a source. • One of the sources I discovered said that he was born in 1900, not 1933, and this seems to back it up. Make sure to be very careful with dates of birth. If there are multiple dates of birth given, check to see what sources are giving the date of birth. If the one giving the alternate date of birth aren't very reliable seeming, go with the one stated in the reliable sources. If reliable sources are giving multiple dates, then make a note of this when stating when he was born. It can be something like this:

Scholars differ on when Aitken was born, as some state that he was born in 1900 while some state 1933.

It looks like 1900 is the accurate one as far as I can tell, though.
