Benchmade 51

The benchmade 51 is a balisong that is made by the company Benchmade. Benchmade sells everything from flashlights to grooming products, but they are best known for there their knifes. Benchmade most popular balisong was the Benchmade 42, after discontinuing the 42 their new most popular balisong became the Benchmade 51. The Benchmade 51 was designed after the benchmade 32, which is a smaller 51.

The Benchmade 51 uses zen pins over tank pins. It has an assisted latch utilizing one of the two layers of its sandwich construction. Benchmade managed this by cutting groves into the inner layers of sandwich construction that have correlating pins that hold pressure of the latch when it is closed. Having an assisted latch like this makes it much harder to hit the latch off the other handle. The latch also allows the knife to be locked open. The pocket clip, along with the latch, come attached on the bite handle and neither can be moved to the safe handle.

The Benchmade 51 is highly customizable. Blade are easily changed out, along with the handles and the scales. Blades can also be changed for trainer blades, no sharp edge while not removing weight, different styles, and even different finishes. The handles are also easily swapped for ones made from different materials, or different styles.
