June 2022 edit

Your edit to Caleb Plant has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. Thanks, but I'm not sure why I've been criticised for adding this photo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Caleb_Plant_Photo.jpg when there is no message at the file page stating that it is copyrighted, and the file is not nominated for deletion? I did not add the photo to Commons, and it is marked as Creative Commons licenced. Safeguarding (talk) 09:21, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You were not criticized! The message is merely giving you information about your copyright violation. You will learn to recognize copyright violations. People cannot just upload images that they find on the internet and then call it "own work". "Own work" means that the uploader is the photographer, so these are just newbies who don't know what they are doing. For instance, the image you just added to the Hensel twins' article is very obviously a copyright violation. It has now been nominated for deletion from Commons. What you can take away from this is that sometimes it takes a while for Commons to take down copyvios, and it is your (and everyone's) responsibility to consider whether it is an obvious copyvio before using it in a Wikipedia article. Please review the other images you have added to Wikipedia articles to make sure that they were properly uploaded, and, if not, reverse your edits. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:50, 1 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Townsonia viridis - my apologies edit

Hello Safeguarding, I humbly apologise for uploading the image of Townsonia viridis to Commons. I should most definitely have known better! The original had the copyright tag CC-BY-NC 3.0 (Au). I have nominated the image(s) for deletion in Commons. Gderrin (talk) 23:29, 13 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I don't necessarily want an unblock, but don't know how to point out that I think these two pages are duplicates: Kateryna Koryshko and Yekaterina Kurizhko

Decline reason:

Don't abuse this template. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 17:04, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
