Hi James. Wishing you well on your Wikibreak and really appreciate your help so far on the AMA case even though we never really go a chance to touch base. I hope the issues are dealing with off-Wiki that you mention on your user page aren't too serious and everything goes well for your and your family.

I will request another advocate for the AMA case. - Except it looks like AMA is closed down now :-(

Kind regards, Bksimonb 04:59, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unusual Adoption Request edit

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

Thank you!

wikilove edit

"All wikipedians should do something to make wikipedia a more friendly place to edit. If everybody would do something to make wikipedia a more friendly place, I believe less people would leave wikipedia because of stress." — I fully agree, but I'd like to stress (npi) that there are substantially different understandings of friendliness, and some wouldn't equal that crazy little thing called wikilove with their own understanding of friendliness. —AldeBaer 00:07, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

The reason I was recently blocked was because of a certain user who is resentful of me and who complained to another administrator about something I purportedly did. And I did not remove the AFD tag; I simply moved it to the bottom of the page. --Rubbersoul20 00:37, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: You've gotten over your fear edit

I wouldn't have called it fear so much as kind of a "forced humourlessness". You see, my perception (and, admittedly, pet peeve) on WP as well as IRL is that too many people lack professional enthusiasm, and I often find myself antagonising this, a bit like a chaperon.

On the other hand the occasional smile is impossible to resist, especially when it catches you unsuspecting. And I realised that since everything is basically a two-way compromise, I should respect others' fondness of wikilove.

On a different note: Glad you like my new userpage design. Needless to say, I stole most of it from Phaedriel's page. Out of curiosity, since I have received complaints in the past about bad rendering, which browser are you using? — [ aldebaer] 22:12, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey! A person whose ip is 86.105.209.78 and perhaps is the user Alexandru Busa whom you have warned him about previous vandalism, insulted me for unknown reasons. Hey SJP, sorry to suddenly appear out of no where and start critiquing your user page but you might want to think about changing the color of the deep blue box, I found it exceedingly hard to read. Hello, You sent me a message that you had removed my edit to the page for the "Mesocortical Pathway". I had explained my reason for this edit in the discussion page, which you may have not read. What you saw on my user page is Persian language. I saw you put the image of Rumi on your user page. Thus I favor a piece of his poem. Of course I'm not a native speaker and my translation may have some mistakes.

هر نفس آواز عشق می رسد از چپ و راست

Every(Each) moment the cry of love came from left and right

ما به فلک می رویم عزم تماشا کراست

We go to sky, who intend to watch?

ما به فلک بوده ایم، یار ملک بوده ایم

We've been in the sky, we've been the companion of the angel

باز همان جا رویم جمله، که آن شهر ماست

Again all will go there, because that's our city

خود ز فلک برتریم وز ملک افزونتریم

We are higher than the sky, greater than angel

زین دو چرا نگذریم منزل ما کبریاست

Why don't pass these two, our home is omnipotence (We should join the God)

گوهر پاک از کجا عالم از کجا

The holy jewel from where? The dusty world from where?(The soul of human and the earth aren't compatible)

بر چه فرود آمدیت! بارکنید این چه جاست

On what you landed! Set out! Where is here! (This is not suitable place for us)

بخت جوان یار ما دادن جان کار ما

New fortune is our aid, giving the soul is our work,

قافله سالار ما فخر جهان مصطفی است

Leader of our caravan is the honor of the world Mustafa (We follow Muhammad in our journey)

I hope my translation was good enough to represent the glory of this poem.--Sa.vakilian(t-c) 18:14, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey! edit

Namastey to you too! I absolutely share your thoughts. I was born a Hindu, but I derive my spirtitual beliefs from multiple philosophies. Sufism has played a major role too; and as you might know, there has been a rich tradition of extraordinarily beautiful Sufi poetry in Northern India (and present Pakistan), which I totally enjoy. Hello SJP. Sorry for not replying earlier but I've been quite busy in the last 24 hours. I hadn't forgotten your RfA, although I probably wouldn't have contacted you about it until today. I would have made a new, thorough perusal of your contributions and preparedness for an RfA, and I'm not sure if I would write the nom or suggest a postponement. There's quite a few concerns being raised at your RfA, which means that probably it should have been postponed alright. I am sorry, I had to !vote neutral. Please don't be discouraged with the outcome, just try to take the concerns on board and keep doing a good job. :-) Best regards, Húsönd 18:52, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi SJP, sorry about your RfA. I had to ask that question because there was no way to assess policy knowledge because of a lack of article edits. Please do not take it personally. Some comments were offensive, yes, but try to take the advice seriously. Admin coaching might be a good idea. And next time, wait until someone else nominates you; you might think you are ready but an impartial observer would be able to better gauge your readiness. Cheers. - TwoOars (Rev) 22:38, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
