Please would you read ..

Please would you read Wikipedia's policies, especially this part of WP:USERNAME: "Usernames that match the name of a well-known living or recently deceased person, unless that verifiably is your name, in which case please note this, and (unless you are that well-known person) that you are not the same person, on your user page." I assume you are that person, in which case would you also please read WP:COI, especially WP:COI#Editors_who_may_have_a_conflict_of_interest, and WP:AUTO, especially WP:AUTO#If_Wikipedia_already_has_an_article_about_you. Minor edit

edit

I noticed that you made an edit here, removing content, and tagging the edit as minor. Minor edits are ones where there is only a small difference between your edit and a previous one, like correcting typos etc. You probably should avoid making edits to an article about you per WP:COI. I actually agree with the removal of that content per WP:UNDUE, but misleadingly tagging it as minor isn't the way to go about it. I'd say that you should suggest changes to the article on the talk page rather than making the edits yourself, but you should also listen to other advice on the help desk. Thanks for your message, I still recieve message notifications via email, but I don't have the time to do any editing anymore. The only advice that I can offer is to open dialogue with the person involved, I see that there has already been some discussion on the talk page of the article. If that fails, there are forms of dispute resolution available on Wikipedia, ranging from the informal to the more formal. If this is needed, WP:Dispute resolution gives an overview, the Resolving content disputes section is particularily relevant. I'm sorry that I can't give any more concrete help, hopefully discussing the issue with the other user will help. Regards, Quasihuman | Talk 19:34, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Advice

edit

(Copied from your IP talk page)

Hello,

Please take this as some pastoral advice.

If you actually are Ruth Gledhill then you are potentially making a very serious mistake by editing the article about yourself. There have been numerous controversies related to people editing Wikipedia articles about themselves - especially when this involves removing information the person doesn't like. If you continue doing this then you are running the risk of this coming to the attention of other newspapers and damaging your reputation. Please think very carefully before editing the Ruth Gledhill article again. Anglicanus (talk) 08:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

As I've already written, you are more likely to seriously damage your reputation by attempting to edit or censor this article as you are only drawing attention to it. You are making a great mistake. Anglicanus (talk) 09:03, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
