Dhvani Desai article edit

Thank you for the work that you are doing on the above article. I will be looking at the external links provided either later today or tomorrow, and adding information to the article accordingly.

Some points I would like to make though:

  1. If you see [citation needed] next to a fact, this shows that the information has no source for verification. This does not mean that it is false, just that no evidence has been found yet. Please do not remove these tags, unless you find a reference which can be cited
  2. The articles provided clearly show that she is an international juror at New York Festivals, not the New York Film Festival, which is something completely different

As I said, I'll look at the article later today or tomorrow, and see if I can add more information to it. Please keep up your excellent contributions too!

Hello, Rupendrafest. You have new messages at Phantomsteve's talk page.
Message added 17:15, 19 January 2010 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.Reply

also i want to upload a film still and Desai's photo please guide.thanks

Hi, just a couple of things: firstly, please do not change information in the article unless you have a source which shows the new information. For example, the sources I have referenced so far only mention the film being shown at 10 festivals, not 20. If I find a source that shows that it was 20, then I will amend the information.
Another thing - please do not remove sourced information, as you just did. The "Bronze Award" is directly mentioned in the article referenced - changing this for "many awards" seems silly!
I am looking through the sources and adding information, but if I keep having to revert some of your edits which make the article less accurate, then it seems like I'm wasting my time!
I realise that you want this to be a good article - but information in it must be *sourced* and *accurate*. I am doing what I can to help with this, please let me!
Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 14:46, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi again! Could I ask you to do me a favour - could you not edit the article for an hour or so? This will allow me to complete the work I am doing on converting more of the external links to references, as I have been doing. It's hard to do that when someone else is editing it! I will leave a message here when I've done this bit of work!
Also, if you have further references to add which are to a website, the format to use is <ref>[http://www.website.com/page.html Website Name - Page Name]</ref> - I can tidy them up from there! Also, you don't add them at the "references" section, you put the reference immediately after the statement that is referenced by the site.
You have got a good selection of sources - I'm just tidying up the article! Thanks -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:26, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have finished the "tidy up", and removed the "inuse" template. Again, thank you for finding the sources - it made it so much easier, a I didn't have to find them myself!

You asked about adding an image...

  • If you want to add an existing image to an article, add [[Image:File name.jpg|thumb|Caption text.]] to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, and Caption text with a short description of the image. See our picture tutorial for more information.
  • If you want to upload an image from your computer for use in an article, you must find out what the proper license of the image is. If you know the image is licensed under a free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image (sign up). If you are unsure what license the image takes, see the file upload wizard for more information. Please also read Wikipedia's image use policy. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 19:11, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help! but i still cannot figure out the uploading of photo/image. the photos which i would like to use are from the press kit, and hence there is no problem to use it on this site.

Photos in a press kit are normally under copyright, so couldn't be used on Wikipedia. However, if there is anything in the press kit that you think says otherwise, if you put the exact text from the press kit which says that the image can be freely used for any purpose (including commercial use), then I can judge if that would be acceptable from Wikipedia's point of view. If the permission given in the press kit is compatible with use on Wikipedia, I'll give you more detailed instructions on how to get the image onto Wikipedia - but I do need to know exactly what the press kit says. Does it say "© 2006 xyz" or anything like that? Or does it mention specifically about permission being given for re-use? Just let me know (on this page) what it says, and we can go from there. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:29, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

The photos are meant for all media and are free of copyright. User: Rupendrafest

  • This would be very unusual, but if you say so than I will have to accept that this is what it says.
OK, before I explain in detail how to get the photo(s) onto Wikipedia, I assume that you have the ability to scan them into your computer? If not, then there's no way to get them onto Wikipedia is there!
Scan the picture(s) you want on Wikipedia, *plus* a copy of the part of the press kit that shows that they are meant for all media and are free of copyright. This last bit is just as important, as otherwise there is no proof that these photos can be used on Wikipedia - generally, photos in a press kit remain copyrighted to the original organisation, and can be "reproduced with permission for publicity purposes". However, they normally also say to show that the photos are "copyright xyz".
When you have these scanned onto your computer, leave a message on this page to let me know, and I will explain how to get them onto Wikipedia. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 07:41, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure thanks.

i gathered a photo that is in digital format. This photo has been used by press in india and it is licence free, as taken from the press club data bank. Can we use it? i don't think there will be a problem. what should i do? User: Rupendrafest

Help me! edit

Please watch if my new article Sanskar Desai is correctly written. I wish to publish it.

Please help me with...

Rupendrafest (talk) 15:22, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but that draft is nowhere near ready to become a live article:
  • It cites no sources, making it difficult for our readers to verify the content.
  • Its tone is blatantly promotional: "distinguished", "very eminent", "wellknown", "path-breaking", "leading", "noted", ... It will need to be rewritten in its entirety to provide a more neutral tone.
  • Much of the content is not about Sanskar Desai at all but about his various relatives. An article on Sanskar Desai should focus on him, not on what his grandfather or teacher did. This much of a lack of content about Sanskar Desai might indicate that he is not notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Huon (talk) 16:39, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

December 2017 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Dhvani Desai, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 22:08, 25 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help me! edit

I added about Jury at Pune International film Festival (PIFF) 2016, ref link http://www.piffindia.com/jury-2016.php & in External Links Her work included in " World history of Animation " link https://books.google.co.in/books?id=dZvhCgAAQBAJ&pg=PA281&lpg=PA281&dq=dhvani+desai+world+history+of+animation&source=bl&ots=7uI6VnTa-D&sig=HkkP3U1xm6RAdOx44skfmGyE0v0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj56OORrrHYAhUDQ48KHYnNCxMQ6AEIXTAK#v=onepage&q=dhvani%20desai%20world%20history%20of%20animation&f=false

can the above be called unsourced? Please help & add it in a way that its not deleted and nobody gets offended. Please help me with...

Rupendrafest (talk) 08:57, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

You're going to need to work with Muhandes on exactly what they are seeing as unsourced. To me, it looks like a very few of your edits include what looks like a reasonable source and much of the remainder are indeed completely unsourced or are churning existing refs in a way that's somewhat hard to follow. Mentioning a source in-text when the article is using footnoted references is not an acceptable way of adding a reference. The PIFF link is to what would be considered a primary source but that may be acceptable. The Google books link should be revised so that it is no longer a search but a permalink to a particular page of the source.
I see that you're engaged with Phantomsteve on the talk page, so that would be the best place for all of you to discuss changes to the content of the article. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 09:29, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
