Dave Marcis Page

Props for the edit on the Dave Marcis page. It refreshing to see that the old timers aren't completely forgotten.

Polish Victory Lap.

It's an intresting article. A few suggestions: 1) Less spacing in between the paragraphs. 2) I'm not sure if it is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. You can try though. (If it is brought up for Afd, I'll vote keep though). It looks good other wise though. Go ahead and give it a shot. --D-Day Somebody talk to me. Please somebody! USAR

I noticed you might be considering to create an article for USAR. I'd like to assist in any way I can. Do you have any ideas on what you might want in there? --D-Day My fan mail. Click to view my evil userboxes 23:08, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for asking me about my thoughts on a potential USAR article. I listed it because its something obvious that was missing. You can do the article if you want. I had a few things in mind: having a list of champions (like I did in American Speed Association), rookies of the year, a history of the sanctioning body, and a summary of whatever interesting interesting things I find on search engines. There will need to be quite a few redirects with all the names and title sponsors that the series has had. There are lots of drivers to check/fix the links.

Right now I'm concentrating on the Daytona Beach Road Course(as I called on the project's page), so I had no immediate plans to work on the USAR article. The Daytona Beach article is looking like it will be fairly long. It sure is a historic place. I keep finding excellent information on older drivers (early 1900s) that I add to their page.

Please review my comments to you on Scott Pruett's talk page.

Thanks for all you've done on this project. You've done a great job! Royalbroil 01:43, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

OK. The USAR website doesn't reveal much info about their history, but I'll be on the lookout. Thanks! --D-Day My fan mail. Click to view my evil userboxes 20:50, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye out for anything too. Royalbroil 20:55, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Richie Evans - Oswego program image

  • Thanks for posting that 1972 program cover. That was his first Pinto-bodied car, I believe, after years of coupes. Barno 03:03, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Re: your note on my user page, I've never been to Eastern Wisconsin's dirt tracks (just Capital Super Speedway in Madison, then known as Impact Speedway), but I agree there's a strong racing heritage there. I grew up at both the dirt and paved tracks in upstate New York, another longtime hotbed of the sport. Like you, I appreciate the sport's heritage enough that I intend to keep improving our articles in those areas. Barno 15:37, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Jimmy Spencer

How would I go about getting a picture of Jimmy on his page. I see that copyrighted photos are strictly observed. I put the requestphoto eidit in his page and that was also removed. I was just wondering what was wrong with that. I understand the other stuff about copyrighted material and I am sorry. I figured if I put the refrenece in it wouldn't matter but I guess it does. Nat'l Register by state?

You recently reverted an recategorization to a more specific subcategory for the Indy speedway. I am curious why, as the Nat'l Register main category has gotten quite large (and theoretically could go to 79,000 entries). Recently some users have created state/territory subcategories, and I have since added some myself. The Nat'l Register program itself sorts properties by states. — Eoghanacht talk 16:17, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I just noticed that you actually added the main category back, while keeping the "by state" subcategory. Isn't this double categorization? — Eoghanacht talk 16:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I was craking away on a move of projects in Category:National Register of Historic Places to state/territory subcategories, and I probably should paste in a more descriptive edit summary when I do that. If you would like to boost your edit count, feel free to join in. If I get around to them all, I would move everything except "American Legation" and perhaps some multi-state road articles. — Eoghanacht talk 21:07, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Your request

Can you give me a link to a page or google search that has this info? Because I don't quite understand what you mean in your request. --Golbez 04:24, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Thanks for the information about the photos. I don't think I am going to add anymore. It seems too much of a hassle and quite confusing. I am focusing on editing articles, posted some ASA stuff on some NASCAR driver pages.

I started a category called American Speed Association Drivers. I put it under a few driver names like Kenseth, Kulwicki, Mark Martin, and Adam Petty.

My question is do you think that this is a good categorty? And what do you think of the name and description of it. Do you think the title should say former? I think its fine, but tell me your opinion.

Also if you want to you can add drivers to it. Here is a link to the category page now. If you want to change anything on it like the title or description just do it. Here is a link.

Thanks

American Speed Association

Hey,

How would I change the name of the category? Would I have to create a American Speed Association drivers and get rid of the old American Speed Association Drivers.

Or would I have to create a new category named American Speed Association drivers.

If you can see a way to change the category just change it.

If you can't I will add the category again and just put "drivers" and I would change it under each individual driver page. It wouldn't be that tough.

Thanks Bdman

Thanks for your query. :-) I think you'd be surprised how valuable a photo would be to someone who's never been to small town America! Basically, I have no idea what a small town like this would look like. Is it very suburban? Blocks of flats? Is there a central municipal centre - High Street, business district, shopping centre, administrative office, some gardens or parkland, any especially interesting or old buildings? It may even be remarkable only for its dulness! A view from any overlooking high terrain would be lovely, though it's possible that there isn't any (the article doesn't say - incidentally, that's another thing that a photo would be handy to show!). Take your pic, I can't believe there's nothing worth recording in the town, though it's feasible that I am wrong! TheGrappler 18:09, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Boris Said

1) Yeah, I'm a bigtime Pack fan. Have been to two of their games when they played in Buffalo.

2)Regarding Mr. Said, as as far as I know, No Fear Racing is his team right now. He is done with MB2 I think, and I doubt he'll run with Evernham since he's driving for a Roush team.[1] --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 11:13, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Sara Christian

Regarding this sentence that you wrote: "All three woman also competed in this race." Uh... could you fix that? I can't tell exactly what it is supposed to mean.

On another subject. Just this afternoon, I was wondering what the Gufs article looks like. Funny to find its author in this serendipitous way.

Cheers. -Freekee 03:19, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

The picture is good. I don't really say much about myself, but it's cool when people do give the bio and show pics. And it shows your interest in racing, which is cool.
I'm from the Milwaukee area, and I've done a little work on local artists. I recently wrote articles on Pancake Day (album) and No Ennui. I'm a big fan of Violent Femmes so I watch those articles pretty closely.
-Freekee 03:45, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw that list, but I wasn't sure who was notable enough. I just addedd The Promise Ring, though. They were pretty big for a bit. Probably got more national press than the Gufs, but didn't have as big a following here. What band is your cousin in? -Freekee 05:10, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Never heard of them. But I've got friends in bands who few people have heard of, either. :-) -Freekee 05:44, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Re:Images

I will jump on creating better descriptions tonight. The computer I'm on currently blocks Flickr. Flickr is pretty cool, hopefully, their members will have some older pictures they're willing to share! :-)

Oh yeah, that Anti-Packer userbox, well I had to help someone on that. It was painful, but I need to pat my resume up in case I ever want to run for Admin. --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 14:56, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good

I'll definitely have a look. Flickr is a good site.

And oh yes, about the barnstar. Simply brilliant. I think we should convert that into a template so it can be a standard barnstar for NASCAR-related edits. Maybe that can be the new image in the {{WikiProject NASCAR}} template if it is legal. --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 22:32, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

NASCAR Modifieds

  • I've started an article in my userspace as User:Barno/NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Please look it over, add anything you can at the moment, and let me know whether I should release it into article space. When I move it there, I'll add redirects from the Winston and Featherlite old names for the series. Thanks for the All-Time Top 10 link; I used that for the "Honors" section. NASCAR's site doesn't have the past champs in the regionalracingseries section of the website. Can you help complete the history? Thanks for your encouragement. Barno 00:56, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
    • It's been promoted to article space today. I was able to get a friendly admin (JzG) to override the problem stemming from my mis-posting, without having it sit in Requested Moves for two or three more days. Barno 22:38, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
      • I've gotten a thread started at www.modseriesscene.com where a number of historians of the Modifieds hang out. Hopefully a couple of knowledgable people with good sources will join us, and maybe go on to help Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR. Barno 00:57, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

John Holman

Thanks for the note. I've moved it to John Holman (Australian politician). John Holman is now a redirect. You might like to turn it into a disambig right away, or leave it as a redirect until you've written your NASCAR owner article. Snottygobble 03:29, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Image question

How do I upload an image from Wikimedia Commons onto Wikipedia? --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 21:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Jeff Gordon

Hi... I'm not trying to start an edit war, but I changed something back on the Jeff Gordon page that you had modified. It's about that section header. I don't mind changing "vilification," but it really is a better word than "unpopularity". A lot of people hate Gordon, but it's wrong to say he's "unpopular." I guess a person can be both beloved and hated, but a person cannot be both popular and unpopular. And just to let you know, I have no dogs in the Jeff Gordon race-- I don't even follow NASCAR. I just want Wikipedia to have a good article. Thanks! Iamvered 08:15, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

ARTGO

You should create an article on ARTGO if it doesn't have one. I couldn't find one, but maybe I am missing it. You did an excellent job with the ASA article and I know you mentioned creating the ARTGO one. We could also create a list of ARTGO drivers like we did with ASA. Just an idea, you don't have to do it though. I know it will eventually get created Bdman 00:12, 07 June 2006 (UTC)

Ok thanks. I didn't know wheater or not to put him under Project NASCAR because I noticed that he never raced in NASCAR. If I were to create and ARTGO page what would I name it? I see that it is ran by NASCAR, think. So would I name it NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Midwest Series ?

Thanks,

Bdman 02:28 08 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I looked into oing the article and studied it, but I still have no clue on it. Maybe I just don't have the natural background knowledge that you haveon ARTGO. Also the different company names confuse me and NASCAR said they are closing the series? I better just stick to like driver articles lol. If you eventually start it up I could edit it and add info. It is just that I don't know how to even start it. Thanks, Bdman 21:37 09 June 2006 (UTC)

RFA

It got deleted because the nominator got mixed up and moved the old one. It's OK. I plan on running this summer. --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 10:58, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

NASCAR article

I think we've got a really good start, but it will still take a lot of work to get it to FA. Other than the obvious reference problem, the only other major problem I can see is that it's too long (which is much easier to fix than it being too short). It just kind of goes into too much detail here and there IMO and it wont be too hard to change that to the encyclopedic "summary style" that they like. It might also be hard to get the Criticism section down to something reasonable without a fight from a person or two, but we can do it. :) Recury 23:09, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

USAR

OK, good job on that USAR article. My recommendation, the main article be United Speed Alliance Racing (I believe that's what it's called). Then have the other title series redirect to it. Hope this helps! --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 09:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Erwin George Baker

Oops, sorry about that. I just saw him pop up in the main NASCAR category and skimmed the article and put him there, should have read more closely. I did create a Category:NASCAR people category like an hour ago that he would fit nicely in. Recury 20:01, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Sure thing! Recury 20:07, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
You know I was thinking, if you want more input on the standards I could spam the people listed in the project as participants with a message asking them to comment on it. I just figured out that AWB tool so it wouldn't be a big deal. Recury 20:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
I think consensus is just among Wikipedians in general, not admins or project members. After we are done with it, we just put in a category where people can comment on it and once no one has any major issues with it (and I don't think there's anything that's really, really controversial in it, probably just some minor stuff and clarifications) then it becomes a guideline or whatever. Recury 20:52, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your support in the e-mail you sent me. I've put a section on my userpage for people to leave me reviews of my editing, so I don't jump the gun again. --D-Day I'm all ears 21:31, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

New Holstein

Yeah, I looked up some info on some people who were associated with New Holstein and I found a few names. Off the top of my head I only knew 2 of them at the time which were Hildegarde and Bob Schmitz. You mentioned Ken Criter to me so I created a page for him too. I had to create pages for each one except Hildegarde. I might also add a few more people, I am working on one now (in my sandbox, still needs alot of work). About the Timm House, if you want to take a photo of it you can, since I imagine you go down that way once in a while(I am not positove if I real). I was going to create an article on Herman C. Timm himself. If you want to start one on the Timm House you can, it could definetly be interesting and possibly be another DYN article. I got the idea of adding famous people to the New Holstein page by looking at the Chilton page. Noticed you added Dave Casper, I imagine there are more than him though. By the way nice photo of the barn under Chilton, I know where that is,lol. Thanks Bdman 03:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Board track racing

Interesting article on board track racing (I had never heard of it!) but I need your input on something. I am working on categorization and am trying to figure out whether that article should go in Category:Auto racing by type or if we should move it to Board track and put it into Category:Auto racing terms. You know more about this subject than I do, so I would appreciate your opinion. Recury 14:21, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, that way makes sense. As long as the articles we are writing for terms are expandable into full-fledged articles, then we don't have to worry about them being too dictionary-like. Like Drafting (racing) has a good article on it, but we probably couldn't make one that in-depth for like 200-mile per hour tape or something. I'm not sure there are enough articles on NASCAR-specific terms at this point to make a Category:NASCAR terms subcategory of Category:Auto racing terms, but there might be eventually. I just don't want to overcategorize. Recury 18:12, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Would you be OK with me moving Sprint car to Sprint car racing? Normally, I would just go ahead and do it because it's pretty much the same thing we were talking about before, but since you had it up on requested moves not even a month ago I just figured I would get your input. Also, I agree about merging Sprintcars into that since it's obviously the same topic; I'll probably go ahead and do it when I get a chance. Recury 02:49, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
