Info boxes edit

Hi Rkulka. No problem! Do you want to create this box in the Norman Edson article or some other article? You need to first copy the correct infobox template from the templates available at infobox templates - click on this link and then click on the link on that page for "People Infobox Templates". This will take you to another page with a number of different types of infoboxes. Clicking on the one you want to use will bring up the template. Copy it in its entirety (even if there are places for information you won't be including as these must be there but won't show to the reader if you don't add info to them).

Next go to the article you want to place the info box into and click on edit this page. Paste your template at the top of your article. Fill in whatever blanks (after the equals signs) with the info you wish to add, leave the others blank and then save it. Voila!

Now for the photo. The infobox will have a place for an image. Go to Wikimedia Commons site and search your subject to see if a photo of him has alredy been uploaded. If not, you will need to upload one but it must be a photo that you have the right to use. Therefore, it must be a photo you yourself have taken, one that you can prove there is no copyright to, that you hold the copyright or licence, or the copyright has expired due to the age of the photograph. Once you have uploaded a photo into Wikimedia Commons, then you merely have to place the file name for that photo after 'image= ' in your infobox and save it. It can be tricky, though, so I suggest you first place the infobox and then I can help you with the photo further. Get back to me when you are ready to try it and I'll be glad to assist.

info boxes edit

Hello Rkulka,

Not sure which login you are using so will leave a message at both. I added the info box. I looked at the history of your editing and you just copied the wrong side of the help page - you needed to copy the template on the left. Anyway, I went ahead and added it and inserted some of the information you were trying to add - you may wish to double check it and/or add more.

Cheers, Snowysusan (talk) 21:15, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rkulka. I have double checked and the photo isn't there. Try loading it again and let me know what happens. Sometimes it takes a few hours before it's visible. I fixed the infobox. Snowysusan (talk) 22:58, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
