Football club templates

edit

Hi, I have created a number of the footbal templates, but you do not need any special permission to create and add them. If you want to create a similar template for Galatasaray, go ahead. If you need a hand please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Cheers, jacoplane 16:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I just realized that you also left the message regarding the PKK on my talk page too. I have been active in the Islamophobia article, but mainly in the role of Wikipedia Administrator, and I have tried to get people who disagree to collaborate effectively, and to overcome disagreements. Nowhere have I said that Islamophobia does not exist. Regarding the PKK and the Hofstad Group, you have to understand that Wikipedia does not define what certain groups are: we only use information from reliable sources and cover that. So when Mohammed Bouyeri killed Theo van Gogh as a member of the Hofstad Group, many media outlets, including Arabic and Turkish ones reported that this was a terrorist organisation. Therefore Wikipedia describes them as such. We are encyclopedists, not historians or journalists. We do not have the qualification or the inclination to decide on such issues. Regarding the status of the PKK, I am not an expert but again our policies of following reliable secondary sources is appropriate. You need to lobby organisations like the BBC or the New York Times, not Wikipedia, if you want to see a real change here. Hope that answers your questions. Hi, if you want to know how I did Galatasaray just go here "Template:Galatasaray SK Squad" and click "edit this page", copy the page to the template of the team that you want and simpply replace the players and team colors with those of your choice. Let me know how you are progressing and feel free to ask more questions. goodluckSquadoosh 04:40, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bosniak

edit

Could you please give an explanation why you want to change "Bosniak" to "Bosnian Muslim" in Srebrenica massacre? Of course, this question would not have been necessary if you had used the edit summary box; please do this in the future, it is there for a reason! Thanks. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 04:45, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Frankly, I find it disgusting for an entire article about the [[Srebrenica massacre[[ to not mention the unified religious background of the victims and an example of Islamophobia and a part of a collective effort by European historical revisionaries to make it appear as if Muslims, in the history of the world, have never suffered because of their relgious background and are always violent aggressors. Can you imagine an article on the Holocaust ommiting the fact that the victims of the Holocaust were Jewish?

Thanks for your reply. I continued the discussion on Talk:Srebrenica massacre in order to get some more opinions. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 05:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks for your reply

edit

thanks for your reply, now I agree we should mention religious background of the victims.

Overwhelming.

edit

Doesn't "overwhelming majority" hint at bias? It does to me, but perhaps I'm alone here. I think that a better term for "overwhelming majority" is needed. Perhaps an actual percentage. - BalthCat 01:46, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

user name policy violation

edit

Hi. Your username is in violation of Wikipedia policy because it is the name of a famous, living person (unless you really are the Rigobert Song, obviously). I'm not going to report this, but I'd advise you to quickly change it yourself. Someday, sombody else will notice this too, and force you to change it. Cheers, Azate 15:05, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Football Hooliganism

edit

I understand that you feel strongly about this subject, but you will start to find yourself on the bad side of an editor if you continue to use the very biased tone you seem to in your subject.

Football hooliganism, and soccer in general, are not subjects I at all care about, and your wording and phrases bother even me, so this isn't about some disagreement over our points of view, but about following Wikipedia suggestions for tone. You may want to review standards for neutrality, but if you feel the article is clearly wrong, filing a dispute over POV maybe.

Just a friendly suggestion from a user who is still learning. --ThatBajoranGuy 08:46, 28 July 2006 (UTC) (Sorry, thought I'd signed this.)Reply

No, I just have a problem with English Islamophobes clearly judging all Turks on ONE, just ONE, incident where they were provoked by racist English suppporters who believed they could act however they wanted in a non-Christian country and expect that nothing could happen to them in a drunken stupor. Not to mention the fact that the fact that the stabber was not a Galatasaray supporter. There are three major clubs in Istanbul and only a fraction of the people living in the city carry a significant interest in football. Especially absurd, is how there is no mention of the rampant hooliganism in English, French and Italian football. Interestingly enough, English supporters have been attacked by Italian supporters several times when travelling there. Hmm, so why could it be that there is no smear campaign against their white Christian brothers?
Don't worry I have my sources and I am rediscovering them at a regular rate and I plan on debunking absurd, racist arguments as I find sources.
And yeah, the sources they have used are obscure. How many Google search's did this "rose" have to go through to find the "Shanghai Daily's" take on a match between two European teams, lol, when it is clear that racist French supporters attacked French Turkish supporters at the PSG-Galatasaray game, as mentioned in the sources I used an many others I can provide. Also, they are making false statements and POV arguments. In their own sources, Roma security attacked Galatasaray supporters because they were pissed off that Galatasaray earned an away draw in a match where the much-hyped Roma team failed to get the result they wanted. Perhaps I should go to the Roma page and add that, lol. No wait, I'm too civil. In any case, how does a case where Galatasaray's players are attacked by Italian racists classify as hooligan violince? Childish! I thought Wikipedia was above being a source material for English bigots.

Wow ... I don't even know where to start with that. Actually, yes I do.

First of all, I'm neither English, nor a bigot, so I am quite sure you can't possibly be referring to me. If you are, you're out of line. Now, if you are referring to the author of the information that pointed to Turkey ... I'm not sure he/she is English or a bigot, either, and those statements are extremely unprofessional and unsubstantiated, in any event.

You seem to have a serious inability to do things like use a meta-positive tone (as Wikipedia suggests) and certainly aren't coming from a place of neutrality, if you view articles and the people who write them as tools of racist Europeans. Religion isn't even mentioned a single time in the topic of Football Hooliganism, and yet you somehow are trying to make it about Islam. I don't see it.

I would imagine you are going to find several of your edits undone on topics where you cannot maintain neutrality, so I'd prepare for that. If you do ever get a warning (like the one above), I wouldn't recommend ignoring it; suspensions of posting ability seem to be handed down extremely quickly.

I'm not sure anything I say will matter, as you apparently think I am part of some grand EU conspiracy to malign the name of Muslims and the world of soccer, despite my stating that I really don't care about Soccer, Turkey, England, or anything like that ... but good luck anyway.--ThatBajoranGuy 08:46, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Interesting how you assume I was referring to you despite the fact that I was obviously referring to the authors of the football hooliganism article. Sorry but you have not been able to prove anything wrong with my argument. I have the resources and I have the time so be prepared for the truth, as much as it may hurt. What is your problem anyway? Is it so hard to believe that the landscape of the Holocaust and the source of the millions of deaths worldwide due to European imperialism is not the tolerant, go-lucky funzone the Western Europeans would have you believe. Read up on it just a little bit and you will learn about the immense racist hooliganism in French and English football.

re:Burak18/82.168.59.236

edit

Hi there. This "Burak 18" who also obviously signs in as "82.168.59.236" should have his IP blocked again. He always presents incorrect information into articles and makes no positive contribution. Rigobert Song

Hi Rigobert, i want to be more good faithed, but i guess you are correct. As far as we do not prove he is using this, actually those, ip(s) we can not be sure. In wikipedia sometimes procedures work slowly, but that's the policy and also more accurate thing. I started a case before your message already, they'll respond today or tomarrow. By the way, i've an advice there is WP:3RR rule on wikipedia. While trying to turn the page to the un-vandalised version don't get in trouble with that 3RR thing. I also report this user on 3RR page. Cheers and happy editing --Ugur Basak 20:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi there and thanks for the news. I hate having to do this to somebody but its just frustrating fixing what he does all the time. Normally, it wouldn't bother me as much but the Wikipedia articles for Galatasaray, the Milli Takim, and other Turkish football articles are high hits in search engines and I hate the idea of people coming across inaccurate information. Thanks again. Rigobert Song
Actually i didn't want to get in this Galatasaray and especially Suat Kaya problems, but Burak18 is trying to add inaccurate information as you say. Adding rumoured transfers and suat will be the galataasaray coach will misinformate peoples. Take care --Ugur Basak 20:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Footballers images

edit

Hi, Rigobert. Could you take a look at the footballer's images you've uploaded? As a source, you provided links to jpg files, but this doesn't help us to determine who is the image's copyright holder and copyright status as a whole. Without this information we can't even claim the image is a promotional image.

Can you provide links to the page where the image appears?

Thanks in advance. Best regards, --Abu Badali 01:48, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rigobert, please, take the time to look at your image upload as soon as you can. And try to avoid uploading new images before you resolve all the issues. Not all images found on Internet are promotional material. this image, for instance, comes from news source BBC and you taggeg it as so. Let me know if you need any help. Hello, when you want to link to the article about the Bundesliga, please do not link to Bundesliga, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as Bundesliga (football) by writing out [[Bundesliga (football)|Budesliga]]. Regards, Jeff3000 05:58, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
