Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Petra Mattheis, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Rentier (talk) 00:18, 12 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

My apologies and thank you for your comment. I translated the German article to the best of my abilities. The original article and its notability has been verified some time ago in the german namespace and I thought it would be a useful addition to read it in English. Further advice on how to improve the article is greatly appreciated. Regentaucher (talk) 09:39, 12 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Regentaucher: Thank you for the reply. First, your username violates Wikipedia's Username policy since it is considered promotional and implies shared use. Please change it or create a new account. I will post my thoughts regarding the article on its talk page. Rentier (talk) 19:43, 12 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rentier: Thank you for clarifying this. I realize now that this post can be seen as promotional. This was not my intention. As suggested I will try to change my username as well to clarify things. Thanks again for your input. I appreciate it.
My account was originally created some time ago to upload and add photos to an article. It was an account that represented a team with a connection to Petra Mattheis. When I created the english translation, I wanted to be as transparent as possible due to name of my account. Therefore I added a COI. Because it was a mere translation of a verified page that I did not create, I did not think I was biased, nor do I believe it today (EDIT: I should add that I am neither the artist nor was I paid to do the translation). In retrospect I should have created a separate account, but at that time I did not think about the implications. I followed the advice of @Rentier: and changed the account name to clarify things. As suggested by @Balon Greyjoy: I will refrain from changing the english article for the sake of transparency. I am not sure what the Etiquette in this case is, so please correct me if I am wrong. I will remove the COI from my user page because I believe that the issue is resolved. I will keep this talk page for reference. Thank you both for getting in touch with me and my apologies for the initial misunderstanding on my part.
@K.Ruh: thank you for your willingness to follow the rules. I appreciate it. That the article was translated from the German Wikipedia is not really relevant, as it had to be judged against our standards - which it fell short of initially, though it's in a much better shape now. The good form would be to leave the COI template on your user page, although it's not strictly required. It serves to inform other editors of your connection rather than indicate an issue. Per our guidelines, you should request edits on the talk page instead of editing directly. You can use the Template:Request_edit for that. Best, Rentier (talk) 19:38, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
p.s. It goes without saying, you are warmly encouraged to contribute to articles in your area of expertise or interest with which you have no COI!
