Speedy deletion nomination of User:Redwards21/unisound edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Redwards21/unisound, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your Unisound article is now at Draft:Unisound where you can continue to work on it. I'll therefore delete the version in your sandbox. Deb (talk) 13:48, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Unisound edit

Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and trying to disambiguate Unisound. There are two companies called Unisound:

  • Unisound Studios - a metal recording studio based in Sweeden
  • Unisound - a startup/unicorn (valued over $1B USD) based in China

Because Unisound did not have a page, I did my best to write about Unisound. I initially did this at User:Redwards21/unisound because I thought this was a sandbox? Then to disambiguate, based on the Wikipedia:Moving a page guidelines, I migrated Unisound Studios to "Unisound Studios" and moved the content from my sandbox to the Unisound page.

I'm really hoping that the content will not be regarded as applicable for speedy deletion. I took a lot of care to get independent sources such as Forbes and only write sentences that could be directly referenced to independent articles. I tried writing as objectively as possible.

Can an experienced editor please help me out with this as I would hate to see my work get deleted as it took several days to research and produce. I'm willing to do what it takes to make the content more objective if that is what is needed, but would be super grateful if someone could point out what needs to be done.

Thanks very much for your time. Redwards21 (talk) 05:09, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your actions have had some side effects that will probably need an admin to fix. All of the bands and albums that formerly linked to Unisound still do, but now they're linking to your article about the Chinese company.
While the article now at Unisound Studios is a poorly referenced stub, I think the best course of action would be to move Unisound Studios back to Unisound for now (this action needs an admin).
Your new article should go through the Articles for creation process. As seen by the speedy deletion nomination of your userspace draft, the article reads as too promotional to be an encyclopedia article, at least according to me an the nominator. I don't think your draft adequately established the notability of the company, although I suspect with some more references that ought to be possible. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:21, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your advice!! I've considerably updated the article and made it more objective, as well as increasing the number quality of references. My slightly ambitious goal is to update/ create all the unicorns in China from this list List_of_unicorn_startup_companies because many are not written or written poorly, and I consider any company valued at over a billion dollars to be deserving of its own Wikipedia page!
As an experienced Wikipedia editor who's clearly interested in this topic, or at least Unisound, would you be interested in going through the list with me and making Wikipedia better? Thanks again, Redwards21 (talk) 06:42, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's quite a list and it has quite a few redlinks on it. I'm not in a phase where I'm able to do much about content creation right now (FRC Robotics is keeping me fairly busy as a mentor), but I can certainly consider taking up something similar to your cause when the season is over.
Meanwhile, the links to Unisound will be redirected to Unisound Studios by the recently-created redirect. We'll see if that latter article survives at AfD. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:38, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for all your help jmcgnh! Learnt a lot from this :) Redwards21 (talk) 06:11, 22 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Maimai edit

Hello, Redwards21. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Maimai".
