Gorz
editHi! I've added a related reference although not exactly the one you looked for. Tazmaniacs 17:33, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I see that you have made a number of good edits to the Ivan Illich article. I only today added it to my watchlist, and am hoping (time permitting) to make some improvements to that article in future. A larger task I have set for myself, however, is to create an article on Decentralism---currently, this link redirects to Decentralization, which is a related concept, but not quite the same---a philosophy of which Illich was an advocate, and to which he was a contributor. Along with E. F. Schumacher and Leopold Kohr, it is arguable Illich was one of the greatest inspirations to the Decentralist movement in the latter half of the 20th century. Any thoughts or contributions you would like to make toward such an article would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 18:16, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, RepublicanJacobite, for your encouragement. I'm relatively new around here. I'm putting my response to you on my own talk page instead of yours, because I prefer to see the thread of a discussion all in the same place. Only I don't know if you will find it! As for your article, I would have thought that Decentralism was merely the school of thought that favors Decentralization. I'll have to wait for your article to find out more. I'm a bit tunnel-vision at the moment: I'm focusing on my current interests which include convivial tools, open design, and everything about wikis. But I'm glad to meet you. Can I ask you for advice on using Wikipedia if I need some? - Redeyed Treefrog 15:51, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I decided to post the above on RepublicanJacobite's talk page after all. When in Rome, do as... - Redeyed Treefrog 17:05, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. Last things first, as it were, you are welcome to ask me for advice anytime you like. I may not know the answer, mind you, but if I do not, I will stear you in the right direction.
- As for Decentralism and its relationship to Decentralization, you are basically correct. I say "basically" because the matter is somewhat more complex. When I use the word "Decentralist" (with the capital "D"), I mean the Decentralist movement (such as it was), and its main theorists (the above-referenced Illich, Schumacher, Borsodi, Goodman, Mumford, Kohr, et al.). Others advocated decentralization in business, economics, and governance, but this was mostly for the sake of productivity and efficiency, not because they specifically favoured direct democracy, local self-reliance, and community empowerment. The Decentralists of whom I speak favoured all of those things, and they are still right. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 17:24, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
For the sake of clarity...
editAre you speaking of the Jacobites or the Jacobins as centralists? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 01:33, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for taking so long in getting back to this, but I've been distracted. The best reference I can give you currently is Kirkpatrick Sale's book Human Scale. I especially recommend chapter 3 "The Decentralist Tradition." Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 23:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- I am currently looking for online resources, though, quite frankly, I've not found many good ones. I've started work on the article, but it's slow-going. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 15:23, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, here we go. When I looked for "decentralist movement," I got much better hits. See this article [[1]], also by Kirk Sale, which drastically updates and expands the chapter I recommended above. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 16:22, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

WhyClublet
editWhyClublet was tagged by another user for attention under speedy deletion criteria A7; that is, an article on web content that makes no assertion of why it is important. I agreed and deleted it without further discussion. Whilst showing that the subject is important is different from proving notability, the latter will certainly show the former. The notability guidelines for web content is here: WP:WEB. Website references will suffice, but they must be both independent and reliable (see WP:Reliable sources). In the meantime, I will move the article to your userspace, here: User:Redeyed Treefrog/WhyClublet, if you wish to continue working on it. Marasmusine 19:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Shah
editHi, I saw your note on Scotty's page, just thought I'd point you in the right direction in case you hadn't found this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sunir Shah Good luck! -Pete (talk) 00:08, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Pete. My reply is on User talk:EngineerScotty. - Redeyed Treefrog (talk) 01:03, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Note: Pete has pointed me to the new deletion debate: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sunir Shah (2nd nomination). My request for redress can be found at User talk:Ezeu. - Redeyed Treefrog (talk) 22:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Added note: User:Ezeu replied (on his talk page) to my request for redress as follows: "You go about it by posting a deletion review request at Wikipedia:Deletion review." However, he never responded to my request for an email address so that I could discuss this subject with him. Redeyed Treefrog (talk) 22:51, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: Sunir Shah
editI am afraid I cannot be of much help to you. My understanding of having AfDs reviewed is not great, in fact, no even good. All I can say is that I wish you the best of luck. I will try to ask some more knowledgable editors and administrators and see what I can find out. Good luck. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 04:44, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of MeatballWiki
editAn article that you have been involved in editing, MeatballWiki, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MeatballWiki (2nd nomination). Thank you. --BJBot (talk) 06:19, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Re: Sunir Shah
editIn response to this, I'm afraid I can't be of any help. I haven't participated in deletion "discussions" for over a year and I limit my infrequent edits to just a handful of articles. I am saddened to see Meatball Wiki up for deletion now, but Sisyphus himself would avoid AfD these days. Good luck with deletion review if you bother with it. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 10:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of CvWiki
editI have nominated CvWiki, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CvWiki. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Sandstein 09:07, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
