Speedy deletion nomination of Arny Karl edit

A tag has been placed on Arny Karl requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I've removed this speedy deletion template. The person is notable enough. JoJan (talk) 09:06, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

William Keith edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Please provide a reference for your claims about Keith's painting style. Thank you. Cullen328 (talk) 03:42, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

The biography of Keith that you added as an external link appears to be a self-published blog and therefore is not acceptable as a reliable source on Wikipedia. Also, it is not furnished as an inline reference for the claim you made about the change in Keith's style. I recently obtained the Winter, 2011 issue of the California Art Club Newsletter which has a lengthy article on Keith by Elaine Adams. I will review that article this weekend to see if it supports the statement you added. As this year is the 100th anniversay of Keith's death, we can expect increased attention to his work. I want to be sure that this article is accurate and reliably sourced. Thank you. Cullen328 (talk) 04:36, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Your remarks on my talk page are perceptive and I don't at all doubt the accuracy of your assessment. By the way, I have seen Keith's paintings at the Crocker, the de Young, the Hearst and I believe at the Oakland Museum as well. But I do not claim to be an art expert. What I will say, though, is that personal knowledge, or what we call "original research" is not allowed on Wikipedia. That knowledge of yours can inform your editing here, but every statement of fact or assertion or judgment or conclusion has to be based on a cited reliable source. It can take a while to learn all this, but proper references are critical here. Cullen328 (talk) 04:50, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate your remarks, but this isn't about what "makes me happy", instead it is about what is needed for a decent Wikipedia article. I didn't write this article but I would like to help improve it because of Keith's connections to John Muir and the Sierra Club, and also because I love landscapes of the High Sierra and Mount Shasta. That's why this article is on my watch list, and why I want it to be properly referenced. If you have trouble formatting the reference, then just give me title, author, publisher, page #, ISBN, date, etc. and I will format for you. Cullen328 (talk) 05:19, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I added the reference, and am now leaving to see the waterfalls in Yosemite in full flow. Cullen328 (talk) 17:51, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
