WHY?! File:White Rat BigFatRat.jpg edit

The image I uploaded was licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license, and is permitted on Wikipedia. You, however, went ahead and removed the license, for no reason, and had it deleted. Not only that, but you went ahead and replaced that image with your own! (Image:Junge_hausratte.jpg) Why? --Mikco (talk) 19:55, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You didn't copy the license over from Flickr correctly. Besides the Attribution requirement, it also had the NonCommercial and NoDerivatives restrictions. Either one of those two restrictions would be enough to make it unusable on Wikipedia, according to the policy pages I provided in my previous message. The image is not one of mine; I just copied it from the German Wikipedia(and I gave full credit and explained what I had done). I've got no special attachment to the picture; if you find one just as good or better, then replace it.
If you do happen to be the Flickr user, then change the license to remove the NonCommercial and NoDerivatives restrictions; then it can be used on Wikipedia. If you think I've done something wrong to get it deleted, take it to Deletion Review. --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 22:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Problem edit

Hello. Congradulations on your promotion. Can you help me with a problem I have with an image. I'm following everything I can think of now. Glenn Strange Thanks, Electric Japan (talk) 16:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think you might misunderstand; I'm not an admin. What do you need help with? --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 17:21, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you please help edit

I am not an expert but I have the passion tot contribute. I have put in hours and hours trying to get these two images right. James Franciscus and adding a smaller picture inside the article on Lon Chaney Jr.. I would hate to see all the hours I spent just thrown away.

Thank you, Electric Japan (talk) 09:25, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've added your images to those to articles. I don't see any serious violation of fair use policy, but you only need one rationale for each use of the image. Also, don't forget to use the "Show preview" button while you're editing, so you can see what the page will look like before you save it. --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 09:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

BIG HELP...THANKS! edit

You just saved me! I thought I was about to just give it all up. Thanks so much. I appreciate the good help you have provided.

picture copyright edit

hi rat at wiki fur

i was wondering if you could help me with the image concerns i brought up in the wiki copyright section

RE:hi i was wondering if someone could help me with the copyright of these two images

on www.makedonija.info/language.html there is an "old-style" map under the heading of Macedonian and Neighbouring Languages. It is the second section from the top. 1. Can i upload this image onto wikipedia? 2. What is the copyright?

2.maps.blog.com.mk/ on that website there is a map at the EXTREME bottom of South-eastern europe, can i upload that onto wikipeida? 2. IF not, how else can i get it onto wikipedia? (possibly graphics labs?? please help!

thanx P m kocovski (talk) 06:47, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

The first says it was published in 1980, which doesn't put it in the public domain. The second also looks new. If you want to try to get the authors to release them, see WP:COPYREQ. If you can't do that, try Wikipedia:WikiProject_Maps --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 07:17, 4 April 2008 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_copyright_help_desk"

i was having trouble with actually registering the images for release could you please assist me with this or connect me with some one working at WP:COPYREQ??? thanx P m kocovski (talk) 07:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if I can help you with WP:COPYREQ. The first one is from a commercial book, so they're very unlikely to release it. The second, I can't read any of the page. Try the WikiProject Maps; probably they can redraw the map from the raw data. --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 08:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You said: "all I see is the date, some cameras do that when the picture is taken, nothing that can be done about it now."

Nothing? You can crop it out or Photoshop (or other software brand) it out. It is easy. We can fix it, we have the technology. ~ WikiDon (talk) 23:50, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your continued efforts on WP:MCQ, as it is much appreciated and needed work that gets little appreciation and lots of irritated / frustrated / confused new and experienced users. Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 00:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thoughts? This user I don't think is "getting" the image use policy. Everything on his talkpage is image related, 45ish KB worth of them... What do we do with chronic offenders? --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 03:40, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It looks like most of them are at least arguably fair use, he just doesn't know how to do the fair use rationale/tagging correctly. I would assume good faith, try to explain what is needed, and help him do it if he's making an effort but still not able to do some part correctly. --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 07:34, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Furry article bounty edit

Do you want to extend the deadline for furry articles on the reward board? --Rat at WikiFur (talk) 18:50, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure, if you're game. Another six months or a year would be fine. GreenReaper (talk) 02:07, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fancy rat edit

nice to see you around the ratty articles again! I had originally written off most of the hooded rat images at commons, but reviewing them again i found a couple usable images. i'd love to get your two cents on the talk page. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 17:41, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media edit

Greetings. I've seen you at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, and I thought I'd let you know about a new project (combining several inactive projects and breathing new life into the amalgamation) at Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media. I hope this becomes a centralized location for discussion of image tags, Commons migration, deletion policy, and all other things media-related. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 18:05, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

TfD nomination of Template:911ct supporters edit

Template:911ct supporters has been nominated for deletion by Ice Cold Beer. As this TfD nomination includes objections to the same list of people that is currently in use in Template:911ct, I am inviting you to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. (I am sending this message to you as a current or former editor of Jesse Ventura, following the guideline on multiple messages.) Regards —  Cs32en  11:15, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

WP:RB edit

According to policy at WP:RB, you have to change the posting date because it is a new post. So, change the posting date to January 1, 2009 - present, and you are within policy. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:31, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's not a new post. It's a renewal of an old post. The offer date is irrelevant; what the policy says is that at any one point, expiry date must be less than one year in the future, and it is. You could change "Date offered" to "first offered", though. GreenReaper (talk) 18:42, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Burned Fur listed at Redirects for discussion edit

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Burned Fur. Since you had some involvement with the Burned Fur redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 02:25, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
