Hi, this is Jobin RV Can you please tell me where can I find images regarding a particular topic? What about the licencing? Can I upload any file that I find on Google Images? What are the conditions if I can't? Please reply or discuss as soon as possible. Jobin RV 06:50, 28 August 2011 (UTC) Jobin RV

Hey buddy. I saw you added logos for all of the schools on WP:INDIAEDU. Just a heads up, you need to watch the copyrights on images. Those logos weren't creative commons license and that's why they were taken down. They did look nice while they were up though :) Pjthepiano (talk) 06:05, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Images/Logos were looking good. :-) Any other way in which we can add logos back to page? It gives different dimension to page. AbhiSuryawanshi (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:22, 5 August 2011 (UTC).
We can't add it as I discussed this with PJ, and coz logos are basically copyrighted material and they can be used in Articles but not anywhere else :( Ram (talk 17:17, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey!

Hey Ram,

I'm Arjun from COEP, part of the Wiki india education program. Just had a small doubt. If i want to give a reference to a physical book, because most references are done to the collection in google books and the sort. What do i do? I have the ISBN no. Is that enough for a citation?. Please get back to me on this.
Thank you :)

Hey Arjun!
Yes you can give a reference to the physical book and yes it's enough for citation! Just add ISBN, Author's name, Year and Page number, in most cases it's enough. You can do this by clicking on the "Cite" link in edit mode and selecting "Book" from the "Templates" dropdown. I hope it helps!

Hi

Hi Ram! I'm a T.Y. student at Symbiosis School of Economics (Research Methodolgy class) and you have been assigned as our campus ambassador. We had interactions with your colleagues Gurmeet and Raghavendra. Most of us are still finding our way around Wikipedia though! I have made a few contributions and would appreciate your feedback on the same. Also, I have a question: While citing references to a particular website, does the website need to be a reliable one? I went through the tutorials on references and citations, but I couldn'y figure out whether some of the websites I referred to were up to Wikipedia standards.

Hi Sri!
You are doing great! Your contributions to the article of SSE and FERA are looking good. Yes, while citing references to a particular website it should be a reliable one, and by reliable one I mean any Government/Newspaper/Magazine website are highly recommended. The site you referred in your FERA article is RBI website and I find it a valid reference!

Keep it up, happy editing! Cheers, Ram (talk 19:59, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

PS: Make sure you sign your edits on User/Discussion page with ~~~~ , i.e, with your wikipedia signature/timestamp.

Im so sorry, I forgot to add my signature last time. I've selected my articles and have started compiling them. This is a very interesting learning experience for all of us. Thanks for your help :-) Warm regards Sridevi Tolety (talk) 13:39, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sri!
Great that you selected your article, let me know if you need any help :)

Dear Ram, I added a writer infobox for Paul Rosenstein-Rodan and uploaded an image too. But there appears to be an error in syntax, as "|frameless|upright=1.11|alt=]]" is appearing below the file. How can I remedy this? Can you please tell me what I've done wrong? I went through all the Wiki Mark-up links, but couldn't figure it out! Regards, Sridevi Tolety (talk) 15:15, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sri!
I looked into it and fixed it, the problem was due to the "[[" square brackets, for using an image in infobox all you need is to specify the image name, and that's it!

Hi and thank you so much!! I uploaded the picture through Wikimedia Commons because I was sent a warning about the copyright issue. Guess I still have a lot to learn! Thanks for the help! Sridevi Tolety (talk) 16:07, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sri! I'm really happy that you are trying things on your own, and doing mistakes is the part of the process, but don't worry about it, just let me know if you need any help, I'll surely love to do that!

Cheers

Hello Ram--question for you. You created Wikipedia:India Education Program/Courses/Fall 2011/Artificial Intelligence; I don't know if you are the one currently responsible for it one way or another, but there's a recipe for disaster in it: the table contains something called "Full name" and something called "Wikipedia-user-id". But the "real names" have [[User: in front of them, inviting people to start editing under that name, which is what User:Shrikrushna lekurwale did, creating User:Shrikrushnalekurwale, a user page for a non-registered user. Such pages will be deleted--they are user pages for non-existent users.

Really, all those "User" prefixes in the "real name" column should be deleted ASAP, since they are an invitation to creating pages for non-existent users. Moreover, that "User" occurs in both columns invites confusion, as in the above case, where the real name was used to start an account instead of the Wikipedia-user-id. There already the table is no longer correct, since User:Shrikrushnalekurwale does not exist.

If you're not responsible for maintaining the table, please forward this to whoever is--it will save the teacher and the students a bunch of headaches. Good luck, and let me know if I can help. Drmies (talk) 16:02, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

I took care of it, please check that and get back to us. Thanks for pointing that out and being helpful :) Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 18:38, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Sure thing. Thanks, and good luck with the project, Drmies (talk) 19:32, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

HI

Hey Ram, this is Anurag Jajoo(Anurag acj (talk) 15:12, 27 August 2011 (UTC)) from College of Engineering, Pune. I just wanted to congratulate you for the creditable job you do to spread the uses of Wikipedia in the field of teaching in the colleges and schools. Providing free and open source knowledge to the world and that too without any technical complications is really a good job. The Wikipedia is such user friendly that anyone with basic knowledge of computers can find anything on it. I am very intersted in making some valuable contributions to Wikipedia.

Thanks..!!!

Hi... i'm K R Srinath, a student of CoEP. I wanted to know the exact difference between a Reference and an External Link. - Srinathkr3 (talk) 10:13, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Srinath!
References are used for citing the facts and provide a verifiable source, whereas External Links are used to facilitate "external resources" for e.g., official website related to article.
So whenever you are using a fact we should add a reference for it! External Links are mostly optional.
You can explore more on this at following links: WP:REF and WP:EL
