WP:BLP edit

hi Rajeevsao. Wikipedia has an important policy called "biography of living people" - it is here: WP:BLP. It says that we cannot add content to an article about a living person that is not supported by a reliable source (which are defined in WP:RS). This is a very important policy since people can add and do try to add all kinds of content (sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes true, sometimes lies) to articles about living people, and it really matters what we say about living people. So writing "she wants me to do this" is not a good enough reason here - anybody could say that, right? I hope that makes sense. Also please see my next note, below. Conflict of interest in Wikipedia edit

Second note to you - in this edit note you declared a connection with Archana - this means you have a conflict of interest here in Wikipedia. Please do not edit the article directly going forward, OK? Instead, please offer suggestions on the Talk page. That is how we manage conflicts of interest in Wikipedia. Happy to discuss if you have any questions about that. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 15:21, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

copying response here, that was left at my talk page, to keep the discussion together Jytdog (talk) 16:46, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am very well considered with your well being. but i just asking you to update her profile with updated information. There is no website with her correct date of birth hence requesting you to update. and Please use the first name everywhere rather than last name because it concern to the Indian actors. Thank you Rajeevsao (talk) 15:57, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
We cannot add any content to a Wikipedia biography, if there is no source for it. We cannot. Also, Wikipedia has a manual of style that governs how we write - it is here: WP:MOS. Part of that manual discusses how we refer to people, and we use their last name, not their first name. That part of the manual is here: WP:SURNAME. Jytdog (talk) 16:48, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Edit war warning edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Archana Gupta. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Jytdog (talk) 21:23, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

why the heck now the name is changed again?? provided a valid verified reference for it? Archana Gupta

there was no spelling mistake in the name. And why you still considering all the references which doesn't even exist now. the refrence provided is the recent from a verified source from 2015. please visit all the refrences in the page most of them don't exist and are very old. Hence asking you to consider this update to the name rather than considering it as wrong spelled Rajeevsao (talk) 21:34, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Use the article talk page. There is already a discussion started there from the last time you came around. Jytdog (talk) 22:05, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest in Wikipedia edit

Hi Rajeevsao. I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia, which is what led me to the Archana Gupta‎ article. Based on your edits there, it appears that you may have some relationship with the subject of that article. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and questions for you below.

Hello, Rajeevsao. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Comments and question edit

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by out WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Ms. Gupta? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, with please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Thanks!

You can reply here - I am watching this page. Once you do, we can take it from there. Thanks in advance for talking! Jytdog (talk) 15:52, 22 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for making a better way of discussion. Yes I know her, and that's why i am seriously concern with this matter.Rajeevsao (talk) 20:21, 23 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK, so since you are here as someone who knows her, you have a conflict of interest. That much is now clear. People can know each other in lots of ways. Do you have a professional connection to her? (e.g. her agent, you work for the record company,. etc)? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 20:55, 23 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not an agent, but I am her Friend and professionally doing work of her Public Relations.Rajeevsao (talk) 11:39, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK, so as you are "professionally doing work of her Public Relation" you definitely have a COI here and you appear to be a paid editor. There are two things now.
  • First, please add a disclosure to your user page, User:Rajeevsao along the lines of: "I work professionally as a public relations manager for Archana Gupta" (and if there others you represent, please list them too).
  • Second, please do not edit the article directly going forward, but instead propose content on the Talk page for others to review and implement before it goes live, instead of doing it directly yourself. You can make the edit request easily - and provide notice to the community of your request - by using the "edit request" function as described in the conflict of interest guideline. I made that easy for you by adding a section to the beige box at the top of the Talk page at Tal:Archana Gupta ‎ - there is a link at "click here" in that section -- if you click that, the Wikipedia software will automatically format a section in which you can make your request.
Will you please make the COI disclosure on your user page, and agree to follow that peer review process? Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 13:53, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
